This is such a neat little nook of a wine store with wine tastings pretty much every weekend! The folks who run this shop are great and have extensive knowledge of everything they carry. If you need advice on where to go in France the owner is also more than happy to share his knowledge of wineries he has been to and made personal friends with. If you're looking for a special bottle for a gift or nice dinner they have super high end stuff, but if you're on a budget they also have bottles in the $9-$12 range up front as well. There's something for everyone here and even a punchcard for frequent buyers. With plenty of parking in this shopping center there's no excuse not to drop in here!

I'm so grateful for this neighborhood gem. Gordon is incredibly helpful and helped me pick a few great wines for my more modest budget. One of the wines was the best Pinot Noir I've ever had! Every time I go to a grocery store, I get overwhelmed by the wine selection and no one is particularly helpful. Here, Gordon walks you through some great options and is very patient. He also tells great stories of the wineries and his trips to France.

Gordon is fantastic - I've been coming on and off for years, and haven't been disappointed. Everyone who works here is friendly and knowledgeable about the product, and they are more than willing to offer help, whether you've no idea what you are looking for or you know precisely what it is that you need.

Guess I can't check in from where I am...but I just placed an order for 6 bottles with Gordon. Excellent service, super friendly and so not your typical snobbish wine merchant. Gordon knows his stuff. He knows it so well, I tell him what I like and he recommends 6 wines for me to try. This is my second batch of 6 and I usually tell him to surprise me.I'm in the Vancouver, BC (Canada) area. Wine is not cheap here. In fact, to get the level of wines I'm seeing at University wines, I'd have to pay through my teeth. I have some friends heading down and I placed the order. A day later, the selection was ready and packed for pick up. A $40 bordeaux is easily $90-$120 here IF I can even find the label. So well worth whatever marginal expense there is to have it picked up or shipped/delivered - which I believe they do.Their selection of wines, at least what I'm lead to believe, is from a few select producers in France where Gordon travels to, samples and selects. Sounds like a hard life but I take solace in reaping the fruits of their labour. Sigh. Their selection, I'm guessing, is updated year over year and that's a good thing. If you're in the area, check them out. You don't know how good of a neighbourhood wine merchant you have until you live far, far from one.

This wine shop is tucked behind City People's at that intersection where the bus stops, and I had seen it many times while sitting on the bus, then finally decided to try it. I'm glad I did! The Saturday I went in, which was several weeks ago now, and the man working there was super nice and helpful. He explained the owner specializes in a certain type of wine . . . now I can't remember which type . . . ugh . . . but anyway it's not a type I drink so I didn't buy any. If anyone finds out, please let me know and I can update my review. The walls were lined with all different types, and the employee there gave me a great recommendation for a $13 bottle of Champagne which was really, really nice. I'll definitely be back.

European wines only (mostly French). Small store with limited selection. Pretentious enough to display wines in Opus One boxes; too pretentious to actually sell Napa wine. Rude owner.

Excellent wine shop. Too bad it is closing. I am always in awe of their selection of French and Italian wines.

Myself and two family members have left this shop feeling extremely insulted and uncomfortable. There is a tall older man with lots of hair that shows off his book and map every-time you go in. He told my mother the wine she likes is crap and that she likes chilled wine because she drinks crappy wine. When my sister went in he made an extremely racist comment about refugees in paris and how theyve made it gross there. It's very unfortunate because this shop has great wine and is super charming, but we'll refuse to go back due to this pretentious, racist, cocky employee. Bummer!

I have been a customer for two decades now and I am sorry, but fully understand, that Gordon plans to sell his business. I hope the new owners are as knowledgeable and decent as Gordon. He invariably gives me discounts on cases of Bordeaux. While I do not comparison shop, I trust him to choose a wide variety of red wines, with occasional white port.

Gordon travels to France...and now Italy...twice each year for an extended time. Over the years, he has developed personal relationships with the vintners throughout the wine-growing regions there. He buys directly from the producers. No middle man. Therefore, not only is the selection superb but the prices are a great deal for what you get. Each time I visit...and it's frequent...I get a fun education on wine and the parts of the French countryside Gordon tells me I must visit.I cannot imagine how a wine shop could be any better. We are fortunate to have this jewel in our city.
