Solid spicy chicken teriyaki. Nice people. In a convenience store, for what that's worth.

Ok, so I had high hopes for Union Teriyaki and Burgers. 4.8 Stars on Google! The Google doesn't lie, right? So for this week's episode, it was takeout on the way home.First off, teriyaki is not really the main point of this place. Nor are burgers. It is a convenience store. Not a bad one from my examination of the aisles, but teriyaki is definitely a side gig. It shows. But the place is interesting, as is the clientele, especially the stoner couple with two pugs in a stroller staring at the candy for 15 minutes. I think they bought Reese's.On to the teriyaki. Chicken for M, beef (beef!) for me. With onions, a no cost option. And, Gyoza. Let's start with the rice. Why, you may ask? Because it is really hard to screw up rice, right? I mean, you've all cooked rice. Even I have cooked rice that M will gladly eat. So how did they do it? How did they make rice taste like plastic that has been melted together with paste? I don't know, but if you go here, do ask. So on to the teriyaki. The chicken teriyaki was, by far, the worst I have yet tasted in Seattle. I won't say it was the worst in Seattle since there are like another 90 teriyaki restaurants I haven't yet tried, but it is certainly up there. Remember that 'yaki' refers to grilling, not boiling. This establishment did not get that memo. The beef was probably stir fried, and again the 'yaki' part of the meal was missing. The onions were an odd touch. Gyoza were acceptable, sauce was a bit sweet. One bright culinary spot was the kimchi. M at it all up, which is high praise. On the plus side, the proprietors were friendly and you can pick up some jumper cables at the same time. But you do have to wonder about a place that specializes in teriyaki AND burgers. I would not, based on my meager experience with the teriyaki, recommend the burgers.

Best burger and fries in seattle. If you want a classic and big burger, go here. Also the people who run the place are super cool. Definitely recommend. Teriyaki is good too.

We ordered chicken teriyaki, spicy chicken teriyaki, shrimp yakisoba, and gyoza. The total was around $34, which is not bad for so much food. They're really generous with the chicken, shrimp and vegetables. The gyoza was delicious and the spicy chicken teriyaki was definitely our favorite but everything was decent for the price. Cute mom and pop shop with an adorable owner.

A friend told me about the quality of the food and I had to check it out- not only is the food fantastic (and priced on the cheaper side!) but the woman who works there is one of the kindest ladies I've ever met. Made my day.

I stopped by the other day thinking I should really try it out. I have lived nearby for years and I cannot believe it took me so long, I have been missing out! The veggie yakisoba had crunchy fresh veggies, perfectly cooked noodles and a yummy sauce. This place can cook!!

Got to give some love to this place! Probably been around 5 times so far and I'm in the neighborhood, so I will keep going back!1. The Price and Portions: definitely more affordable than most meals you'll see in Seattle these days and the portions are massive! Just order their fries and you'll see what I mean. Every time I have guests and they want a quick easy meal we go here, and their eyes always widen on how much food is brought back.2. The Service: yes, it does take a little while but it's a little restaurant inside a small convenience store, so I call ahead of time. However the nice lady that works there (I think she's the owner) is so incredibly sweet! Always gives extra sauce, is so happy to see me and I think she may now recognize me because I bring my dog in too! I cannot emphasize enough how much I enjoy this place! If high quality, fancy food is what you're going for, this isn't the place. But if you want a sweet lady handing you massive amounts of (sometimes greasy) but delicious teriyaki, Katsu and fries this is the perfect place!

In 16 years of living in the CD, to say I've been past this place hundreds of times isn't a stretch, but I never got around to stopping in and checking it out. Until this week. I was looking for a cheesesteak and though I knew they do teriyaki and burgers here I had no idea they make cheesesteaks until I did a yelp cheesesteak search. Headed right over, walked inside and saw that the food side of house was closed. Turns out that while the store is open until 10:30, food is only served between 11 and 7. Bummer.Fast forward to tonight. The mood struck again, and I got to UTAB in plenty of time before the kitchen closed shop. Put my order in (service was very friendly), and though the wait was a bit long (about 15 minutes), what came out was really promising. The woman behind the counter opened the clam shell box to show me the order, and lying there in splendiferous beauty were the most delightfully golden brown crinkle fries I've seen in quite some time (and I'm a sucker for crinkle fries). The sandwich was wrapped in foil, so I quickly closed the box and dashed to my car for the quick trip home, making note of the heft of the package (and hefty it was).Got home, opened the box and the wonderfully commingled scent of cheese, steak, and grilled onion greeted my nose. Expectations were instantly elevated. The verdict? The fries were every bit as delicious as they looked and smelled. Crunchy but not dry, perfectly salted, classic crinkle fries. I thought there was no way the sandwich could keep pace.Wrong.This is a monster sandwich, with generous portions of cheese and steak. I would say that it could have stood a few more of the nicely-done grilled onions, but that would be picking nits. There was cheese, meat, and onion in every bite, and the roll it was folded into was fresh and delightful as well. The meat was done but not dry, the cheese was perfectly melted, and the onions were translucent but still had that slight crunch they have when perfectly grilled. Far exceeded expectations for this little shop on the corner and definitely made quick work of my cheesesteak craving. I'm kicking myself for overlooking this place (and this cheesesteak) for 16 years but I look forward to making up for lost time.Don't let yourself lose your head over the fact that this isn't a classic Philly - the beef is thinly sliced with the cheese and onion on top, rather than everything diced together, which made me wonder a bit myself when I first unwrapped it. Trust me, if you're looking for the perfect union (yep, I did) of beef, cheese, and grilled onion surrounded by a roll that is more than up to the task, you will not be disappointed.
