We saw this place on our venture down the street, but opted to step in here until we came back down this way as it was peak lunch crowd and we wanted to give it a chance to clear out. Good thing we did as there was a convention in town up the street and that crowd was starting to head back to either their convention or hotels. When we finally did circle back around, the crowd had thinned enough for us to get a table and start looking over the menu. The server staff still appeared to be a little flustered when he approached our table we hardly had a second to look over the menu so he just took our drink order. Told us he would be back shortly and that gave us some time to look over the menu. Once the menu selection was done, we just had to wait for our server to circle back around.I will give it to our server, even though he was running between tables, he knew everything on the menu without having to think about it. When my friends had questions about items he was able to make suggestions and his suggestions were spot on. He was very helpful and really knowledgeable about the menu.Once our order was placed we were left to take in our surroundings and enjoy the weather. Let me tell you, each time I visit the weather is horrible (read that as chilly), but of course, on this day of departure, the weather was beautiful. We took an outdoor seat and was able to actually feel the warmth of the day. I was truly impressed with outdoor seating. Our food showed up and it was time to dine. I went with an old reliable, that being their version of the classic cheeseburger, Union Burger. Topped with white cheddar, butter lettuce, tomato, pickles and their house sauce or Union burger sauce. All between a brioche bun and big enough that cutting it half helped with not loosing much of the toppings while devouring. This comes with a side of hand cut fresh fries. Any form of potato is good by me, but when you can tell they are fresh and not a frozen product, so much better. A nice last meal while in San Diego in one of the best, walkable sections of the city.

This is a great central location on 5th and for comic-con weekend you are right in the action and a prime people-watching spot. They have a large outdoor seating deck and the inside is quite large too. The menu was a little smaller than I expected but maybe because it was comic-con. We decided on the California Soul cocktail (would definitely order again) and the Tennessee whiskey. For food we ordered the short rib loaded fries. Now when something is described as loaded I picture it as packed with stuff, and while it was good, I would've liked more gravy and meat. To mention the service, everyone here from the hosts to our server was very friendly and pretty attentive considering how busy they were. Food took a little longer than expected but wasn't an issue with all the good people-watching going on. Good spot that I'd definitely return to in the future.

Made a reservation for a busy Wednesday (SDCC) on Opentable well in advance. Two weeks in advance, too close to make many other reservations, they cancelled all their reservations for that day claiming it was to switch systems. That's true, but I'm positive they could have transferred them to the new system or found another way to honor them. Instead, they provide a link but say that walk-ins only during SDCC -- that's an okay policy and I understand it, but then they should have done that from the beginning. They knew those dates a year in advance. As for food, it's... fine. I wouldn't go out of my way for the food, but a burger etc. is going to be okay, and sitting on the street during a busy night is fun and the atmosphere is lively. Service can take a bit of time. I wouldn't wait to eat there, but if you walk up and there's an outdoor spot open, fine. But suffice it to say, I'm done with the place.

All things considered I liked this place. The multiple bars and amazing bartender we had definitely improved the experience. My aunt had a mocktail that was so delicious, it made me think I could give up alcohol for good. The bartender made me an iced coffee that was amazing. The downside was the mushroom pizza. The base for the sauce was giving cheese sauce which didn't pair well with the mushrooms. Overall I would go back but no go on the mushroom pizza.

Came here get some late night eats during Comic-Con. Food was delicious and the service very attentive. Impressed given people usually phone it in during the con. Would eat here again.

Fries were delicious, burger looked good but I didn't try it. The flatbread was mediocre though. The flatbread was doughy and the toppings didn't come together very well.

Nice server. Super mediocre food. Nice place. Definitely a reason there was no wait for breakfast. Ill go back for great food bad service (slow yes, rude no). But, the food has no imagination and no flavor. There's a reason the other brunch spots were packed to the gills and this place was walk in only. Server was nice but not overly fast. Its really a 2.5 but I can't bear to round up. So it's a 2.49 and a round down for this place.

Got in on Memorial Day after a Padres game. Host was quick to seat us and take our drink/food orders. Food was delish - the salmon was fantastic; the steak frites was also incredible. Friendly service, nice tables (inside and outside), fair prices, delectable food. 10/10 would come back again!

First time here. Visiting San Diego and decided to stop in for some dinner and drinks. Braised Short Rib and the Union Burger with added bacon and Mac and cheese with a Malbec. The Braised short rib was pretty good. It had potatoes or grit underneath and paired very good. The burger could use some seasoning and the Mac and cheese was not bad. The Mac and cheese had bacon added. Overall the service was top notch, though a bit slow for only a few parties in the restaurant. The drink menu is abundant, and the ambiance is open concept and a very nice place to hang out. The doors were open on a nice evening in February. I would recommend and wouldn't hesitate from stopping in here. But I definitely be exploring more of the gas lamp district.

What is one place that you can the best time and kick up your heels in the evening with some line dancing? The best food in the Gaslamp and the many TVs you can see the many games with the surround sound of the bar and the great drinks they serve. This was one place that I had attended the restaurant before the food was one at the time it was one that you couldn't get a straight decision of the flavor and the presentation with the many restaurants it was a toss-up. I had to go back to the restaurant taking the trolley from National City back to the Downtown San Diego of the Gas Lamp I walked up into the restaurant looking at the many places with the time getting late I looked at the Union Kitchen It had some of the best changes. Walking to the front of the restaurant the hostess she saw and asked me if I wanted seating at the bar or to have a table the hostess greeted and shown me to the many tables, they had open. The Union Kitchen is famous for the barbecue and the burgers the one thing that I wanted to try was the wraps the server said they were the new dishes of the Honey Mustard Chicken Wrap that got my attention to have a wrap of the honey mustard sounded really good. I asked the server about the wraps she told me you can get them with French fries and tatter tots I told her tatter tots with grilled onions no tomatoes with too much juice it will fall apart. The server brought me back a large coke with ice and a large Ice water it was hot for Wednesday when the order came back the service time was 8 minutes the service time was very good chicken you could smell the honey mustard and the grilled onions in the wraps. With the service time and the presentation, I would have to say these are the best wraps with the best flavors when you get wraps at other places you get cold style sandwiches. From the many places that I have been to and the great service that I have seen at the Union Kitchen it has the best food and the cooks to show some of the best dishes. For the many meat dishes and the great burgers, the chicken wraps are some of the bests with the full flavor which restaurant try so hard to get right. As a Yelp Elite Reviewer for the day, it was the best at the Union Kitchen with the best food and tatter tots with the best sauce and the full flavor of the chicken great work and the presentation nicely done. The many Unions Kitchens they have here in San Diego and the North County Gaslamp Quarter location has a few tricks up their sleeves. Being greeted and helped with seating that is one of the best hostesses if you have a restaurant that goes above and beyond that I will be returning.
