Union Kitchen and Tap Encinitas

I had an amazing time here at Union Kitchen. The food is super affordable, tasty and fresh. The staff is very welcoming and hospitable. The ambiance is cozy and warm. 5 stars for you!

Food: My husband and I ordered shrimp & grits dinner with cornbread skillet. I had a glass of wine, and my husband ordered a beer. Ideally, food is hot, this was warm, maybe lukewarm. I love hot food, so that was disappointing. If the server came back to check, I would have asked that they warm it up a bit more, but he didn't show up for awhile by that time. I had already decided, to just eat it, as is. I'll warm up my leftovers nice & hot. Service: He was nice and busy.Ambiance: laid back, good music. Customer service was outstanding, I came in with my dog and I was right away taken to the patio in the back.I wasn't aware that it was a dog friendly environment. I love that they have a menu for dogs.I had a drink and wings, 2 thumbs up.

We had a big group reservation on a Wednesday night. It wasn't crowded but had good vibes with live music coming from the inside while we sat on their outdoor area in the back. They have a private parking lot around the back of the building with around 8 spots with 1 handicap parking. There are also plenty of street parking around the back street but not up front as it is towards the end of the street. The main street parking spaces end about a block before. Their flatbreads were full of toppings with a nice crisp bottom. We had their Mushroom, Prosciutto, and Pesto flatbreads and loved all three. The kale and Quinoa salad also went well with the flatbread with just enough vinaigrette dressing. We also ordered the Creole BBQ Shrimp but it was a pretty small size dish (not ideal to share even though it is listed as a share plate) so I didn't get to try the shrimp but the sauce was really good. I kept dipping the french fries in the leftover sauce. And their Basket of Fries, so good. We kept ordering more and more and ended up ordering like 5 baskets. Loved the light rosemary chili seasoning. Try their craft cocktails as they were super flavorful. They also have options to make them without alcohol for those that do not drink but want to still enjoy the beautiful cocktails (and they are $10). The ones that do have alcohol are not weak; they definitely do not skimp out on the alcohol. The servers were also great and accommodating. Took our order quickly, provided water and plates as needed and we never had to flag someone down as they were readily available. Our server was also able to split everyone's bill by their order as we were all paying for our own drinks and brought over the card reader right to us. It was a very enjoyable night.

Enjoyed a Wednesday night dinner at this spot and had a great time. It is a large space with plenty of room to hangout and sit. They had a talented artist playing live music and a half off deal on their cellar wines! The service was friendly and accommodating. The shrimp & grits had really great flavors and the portions were rather generous. Everyone really enjoyed their food, I'd be happy to visit this place again!

The non alcoholic drinks are great! The spirit in the sky is good as is the blueberry yum yum. I didn't care for the yellow submarine. And the burger and cornbread are great

Stopped in for drinks on a Thursday afternoon and had a great time! The bartender was super nice and the aperol spritz were on point. The bar is pretty big and the whole restaurant has an open type concept which is fun for a group! Will definitely be back again for some apps!

We loved our lunch at Union ! This large gastropub on the Southern part of Encinitas downtown has lots of seating inside as well as outside.We got a nice shaded table on the back patio. Our server was really friendly and nice and very attentive. These were the items we got.... The Executive Burger...probably one of the best burgers I have tasted. The meat was moist and well seasoned and the toppings making up the dish worked perfectly for a delicious bite.Kale Quinoa Salad with Salmon. Very hearty salad with fresh ingredients. The salmon was cooked very well...just right....The BBQ Chicken flatbread, nice and light with a crispy flatbread base.There are several Union Kitchen restaurants in the San Diego area, check out any of them, you will not be disappointed.

Large venue so great for groups.Service was just ok but server was nice.Food portions were generous for the most part.We ordered the union wings -8 wings. They were standard wings ... good but didn't blow me away. I was disappointed by the chicken and waffles as it was more like fried tenders and the waffle was ok . It kind of tasted like cornbread waffles. But the sunny side up eggs were cooked perfectly. The bacon mac and cheese was very rich and cheesy. My favs were The Union burger was a big burger and was delicious . The short rib breakfast burrito was filled with lots of meat and tasty. I give this place 4 stars because there's many choices on the menu, good portions, and great place to watch sports. 3.5 stars for the service and overall food .

I can't say enough about how amazing the people, ambiance, and food are at Union Kitchen. My whole family went out for Thanksgiving dinner which was also my birthday and they treated us like family. The food was unbelievably good. Everything was amazing so I have no problem telling you to close your eyes and order anything!That said, we had Steak Frites, Farmhouse Meatballs with pasta, Bacon Mac and Cheese, Grilled Chicken, and they even made a great dish for my vegetarian wife. This place is a local gem! Try them and you'll be happy you did.
