Authentic Filipino gem in West TownPerfectly decorated inside. Simple decor that feels like home. I was greeted upon entry and sat on a busy Saturday morning. It was a pleasant surprise to see i had been served complementary hot lugaw (rice porridge) right away2 menus: one Filipino and one American I ordered a combo skirt steak and fish. Amazing. So many great flavors I'll be back!

We arrived at 11:20 am and were told to wait outside. During our wait, I went inside to use the bathroom and noticed there were at least two available tables in the back.We continued to wait for another 20 minutes but were told our table of 6 would have to wait for a big table and that it would take another 15 minutes. I questioned the staff but she insisted none of the tables were big enough. By the time we were seated, it was the exact table that I noticed as available when I went to the bathroom. Although they seem a bit inorganized and inefficient in seating parties, the food made up for it.We had the full order skirt steak with sunny-side egg and a combo meal with tocino, pork chop, and scrambled eggs. All four of us enjoyed the food as everything was done right. All of the proteins were juicy and tender. My husband's favorite was the skirt steak and mine was the tocino. Our two young daughters tried and ate everything!

I came to Uncle Mike's on a Sunday afternoon and was surprised at the short wait time. I scanned the waitlist queue QR code on the front door and waited for a text letting me know my table was ready (it took 15 minutes). They start you off with complimentary lugaw (Filipino rice porridge), which was hot, flavorful, and comforting. It reminded me a lot of my mom's homemade lugaw, so I definitely got nostalgic. I ordered the big bangus, which came with egg (your choice of fried or scrambled), garlic fried rice, cheese grits, vinegar, and diced tomato topping. The "big" bangus definitely lived up to its name and was a huge portion. It could easily be split between two diners as a light lunch. My fish was fresh and crispy out of the fryer and so flavorful. The only reason I didn't think my experience was 5-stars was due to the wait after being seated in the restaurant. Once my table was seated, it took about 15 minutes for a server to acknowledge my table and start our drinks. After receiving our drinks, it took another 15 minutes for a server to take our order. Despite the wait, I appreciated how polite the staff was when I interacted with them. I'm hoping for a menu expansion for vegetarians and vegans! I know Filipino food is traditionally very meat-heavy, but I'd love to see Filipino food options available for all customers.

I always come here when I visit chicago. Food is always good. Gives you a little nostalgia from growing and living in the Philippines.Service is quick. QR menu and they always start you off with some "Goto" or Arroz Caldo. Great for breakfast/brunch 10/10

Long wait and absolutely worth it. Grabbed breakfast with a few friends last month and we all ordered the exact same thing - and none of us regretted it. The restaurant is super cozy and has somewhat of a diner feel. Will be back!

Came here to eat the morning we arrived for a work trip and for a cozy meal after a long flight. Service was really good and our server made sure we always had much needed coffee. My coworkers and I loved the congee they serve you in the beginning. I got the skirt steak and longaniza plate. It was such a filling and delicious meal. The steak had lots of flavor and my coworkers and I loved the sweet savoriness of the longaniza. Overall a really great place for breakfast after a long flight!

Great diner spot if you're looking for some authentic Filipino style breakfast food. You could wait up to 10-15 minutes for a table if you're there during peak brunch hours, but the servers really work hard to clean up tables and take orders. I loved the combination meal with longanisa and tocino, but I opted for spam this time. Anything you get will always be a hit! The bill was about $45 plus tip. Highly recommend!

Came for Sunday brunch to a packed house around 1pm. Check in via phone app, seated within 10 minutes. Ordered traditional Filipino breakfast with garlic fried rice, longanisa and two sunny side up eggs- just like my Dad used to make! Did not disappoint! Came with a small serving freshly chopped tomato/onion/chive "salsa"- mix that all in with your rice and eggs and ohhhh, it's a delightful mix of flavors! We were also gifted with an Uncle Mike's keychain upon our departure. Nice touch! Highly recommend this place when in the Windy City!

I'm probably the last Filipino yelper that hasn't been to uncle mikes. Surprise it's not just Filipino breakfast. It's actually a large menu with lots of traditional breakfast items. Upon seating you're immediately served complementary porridge(arroz caldo). The brunch combo of steak and tocino came with Champorado(chocolate porridge). Are you kidding me? Im sold! Is it the best steak? No. Is it the best tosino? No. Im giving it five stars because the food is good enough, the portions are huge, and all the other trimmings it comes with. P.S the plain pancakes tasted really buttery - even that was good.

Im Filipino and live in Texas and when I first came here to the US I was amazed at how restaurants would serve free stuff to their patrons like chips and salsa/queso dip or bread with butter prior to their orders. To me it is a gesture of goodwill to customers and a preview of delicious things to come. I have never encountered a Filipino establishment that does that in Texas or anywhere else so I was frankly amazed by the scrumptious bowl of steaming hot arroz caldo presented to our table even before we started to browse the online menu. Thanks a lot. That really made my morning. We ordered combo breakfast plates and polished everything off including the once again free side dish of a small bowl of champorado. Word must have gotten around about the excellent quality of food and quick, efficient, and friendly service of this place because it was packed and not only with Filipinos. I even overheard people from the table next to us asking if they can purchase frozen packs of the longganisa and tocino. The decor was simple and clean and I loved the resin covered rattan ( i hope I'm describing it correctly) tabletops. Would be fun also if the place was named Tito Mike but I digress. Overall we enjoyed the experience and would definitely come again if we visit Chicago
