U-Sushi

This is a pretty small but decent sushi spot in Brookline. They've recently increased their prices, but they still end up slightly lower than the other similarly-sized sushi restaurants in the area. I had the Lunch special which was $16.99 for 3 rolls, miso soup, and salad. At a lot of other places, I've been seeing $18.99 or higher, so this is a really great price despite it being higher than it was last year. As for the quality, it's pretty solid with a few downsides:Miso soup - this was a standard miso soup from a takeout place - nothing wrong with that!Salad - I really like their ginger-based dressing - it makes the salad have a nice sweet and savory flavor.Spicy Scallop roll - this is extremely rare - most places I see don't have spicy scallop at all, and if they do, it's not an option for the lunch special. However, there are a lot of cucumbers in here so it's hard to taste the scallop, but I get it - scallop is a pretty expensive ingredient so this still gets positive points for even being an option!Spicy Tuna roll - this one was a little iffy. The minced tuna was fine, but the tempura flakes mixed in had a little bit of a stale and oily taste. Is it possible for sushi to be oily? This one was, which was a little strange, but it wasn't the worst thing. I'd probably skip this roll next time.Spicy Yellowtail roll - this one had the same tempura in it, but the fish was in chunks instead of being completely minced. I'm not sure why, but this one didn't taste oily - it was quite nice. All in all, the price is great, the quality is decent, and you get a good amount of food. I'd definitely come back, but maybe I'd skip the spicy tuna next time. 4/5!

Very convenient, fast, friendly and well priced sushi restaurant for takeout and sit down. Space has several tables inside or I frequently ordered takeout for pickup. It's location in Coolidge Corner and next to a Chinese takeout restaurant offer plenty of convenient options to mix and match dinner for those looking for options.

No matter how many sushi places we've tried so far, U-Sushi comes out at the top! They are consistently good when it comes to flavor and freshness, their service is timely and friendly, portion sizes are good, and prices are fair. What more could you want?!We have some staples everytime we order - the spicy salmon Maki roll and spicy tuna salad. While both aren't technical spicy, they at least have a hint of spice as compared to what we've eaten at other restaurants. We also end up getting one of their specialty maki rolls, sometimes with shrimp tempura, spicy seafood salad, salmon or tuna, and they're all delicious. We order directly at the store, so we usually get a free edamame or seaweed salad since we exceed the price threshold. This is usually more than enough for two people. Overall, great value for money!

Had it for takeout. So i can't speak to the ambiance of the restaurant or the service.Most of the meal was ok and well priced but we ordered shumai and they literally gave us one and it happened to be cold. This was a waste.So overall good maki and just avoid the shumai let down.

Loved the sushi here! Everything is fresh and seasoned so well. Would love eat there in person next time.

Overall pretty average sushi, but definitely satisfied my craving. The tuna was a little metallic and not my favorite but the salmon was silky and smooth. Pretty good ratio of fish to rice. A decent option overall.

I ordered sushi for delivery from here and it was decent. I tried the shrimp shumai which came with a wasabi-laden dipping sauce (the shumai's were good though), salmon roll w/ brown/purple rice, Louisiana maki roll (fried crawfish with avocado), Boston roll, and lobster maki roll. I didn't care for the fried crawfish but everything else was good. One thing that was disappointing was that all the rolls with avocado came with brown/old avocado so that didn't taste great. My favorite roll was definitely the plain salmon w purple rice. Prices were good and food isn't bad!

It's a small hole in a wall but the people there were very friendly. It was reasonably priced and solid sushi. I got the baked salmon maki and the snow crab maki. I'll definitely be back!

Good (5 piece) sushi on a snowy takeout night.Soggy tempura. Note to self, don't order takeout tempura, even with a 5 minute walk, as it;s hard to know whether it was soggy at the restaurant or as a result of takeout. So, tempura judgement withheld until eaten on the premises, fresh and immediate from the kitchenShrimp shumai, okAnd that.. is that.

U-Sushi (4.5/5)U-Sushi has become my favorite sushi place in Brookline to order takeout from. They offer a very reasonably priced 3 roll lunch combo ($14.99) that comes with a miso soup and a salad. Sadly, this offer is only for lunch but the sushi prices are pretty reasonable nevertheless. My go to order here is a Philadelphia roll, a spicy white tuna roll, and a shrimp tempura roll. The spicy white tuna roll here is my favorite of the three and is very flavorful. If you are looking for a sushi place in Brookline and have not tried U-Sushi I would definitely stop in and give it a try! The food is very good and quite fresh and they are very consistent.
