U Gazdy offers an authentic and delicious Polish dining experience. All the traditional favorites were outstanding--pierogi, kishka, dumplings, potato pancakes, rolled pork, stuffed cabbage, and of course, Polish beers. Or, as they say in Polish, *oryginalne i pyszne*!The dining room's quaint log cabin feel adds to the cozy, inviting atmosphere. Service was attentive, and the prices were very reasonable for the quality and portion sizes. If you're looking for a genuine taste of Poland, U Gazdy is a must-visit.

My husband wanted Polish food and he came up with this place and why wouldn't I want to eat here with a maiden name of Gazda? Dorota our server was working her first night and explained she didn't speak English well, she did just fine and she was very nice. I got stuffed cabbage with mushroom gravy and dumplings ( an up charge of $2) and he got a stuffed potato pancake (we can't remember the name of the dish) it came with the Polish salad that consisted of beets, cucumbers and carrots, all very tasty. They started us off with bread and a cup of spread, we have no idea what it was but it was heavenly, we also were offered a choice of soups. The portions were generous and everything we ate was well seasoned and very enjoyable. See you soon

We were wanting some good German/Eastern European food and we found it here. Totally unexpected but quite good. Servers are very nice and the place looks like a Bavarian lodge. Wish they had more sausages on the menu. Like more options for different ones. But it's super authentic and the food they did have (potato pancakes and goulash) was amazing. And the mushroom soup was to die for. Highly recommend!

This place has a vibe of a countryside restaurant in Krakow. The food was so good I didn't get pictures. We ordered the potato pancakes, and only request, more apple sauce. While they do not have prices for drinks.. it's $12.. I will say they supplement drink ingredients with what they have on the shelf.. overall great experience.. our server was efficient

I've heard so much about this restaurant! I haven't been there yet , but I've made reservations for my birthday on October 1st.....I'm Italian and LOVE LOVE LOVE Polish food!!!We'll, I finally went and was extremely disappointed. The establishment is very nice, clean and in the Highlander style. Warm bread was served and we ordered appetizers. Pierogis were good but the zucchini patties were flat and rubbery. The meals looked good but we're definitely not prepared fresh. The meats, both pounded steak and rolled chicken were as hard as rock....definitely not prepared that day. The pork shank was spectacular but the bone came out effortlessly (which should be good) but was also dry. I'm a bone picker, and the bone was DRY. The sauerkraut was so overcooked (or old) that it was brown and melted away. We left a good portion of our meals on the table or threw away the carry outs. I really anticipated this to be great, but sadly it was not.

Food seems homemade. Reminds me of what my Slovak grandmother made. Fast service and attentive. Homey atmosphere with country side paintings, wooden tables and many eastern european speakers enjoying the food.j

The food was 5-star quality. Prepared from Best ingredients and served as a fine dining plate. The ambiance was extremely friendly, almost like I left Wood Dale and stepped into a Country setting. The dining area had plenty of light, with quiet environment so you can talk and enjoy your food. My wife and I were very impressed with this restaurant. We both would highly recommend to everyone for a nice place to have a very nice dining experience. The prices are very reasonable based on quantity and quality of the food choices.

I searched for authentic Polish food near the airport on our way out of town. Thank goodness I chose this place-it was AMAZING! Very old school authentic Polish feel good food. We had the beef stroganoff with potato pancakes, and the Polish Plate w/ a cabbage roll smothered in mushroom gravy, Polish sausage, pierogis, and potato pancakes as well. The cabbage roll is to die for!! Best I've ever had. The beef stroganoff was also absolutely delicious. We can't wait to come back to Chi-town just to eat here. The service is also top notch. Very nice gal behind the bar.

Have been here in the past. Pleased... decided to go again. With another couple..Clean place. It must have been an OFF night..The food was not as expected. Not at all...Waiter had to ask someone every question we asked. Not POLISH and should be..to fit in with the restaurant. And especially the menu..Food was just ok/ or less..but soo disappointed. Husband had pork shank.presented well...way over done. Zucchini pancakes rubbery and tasteless. We shared and potato pancakes were soggy. Seemed not completely cooked..No crispy edges like in the past.. that opinion was agreed..dishes served did not seem fresh at all..meat dish had fat..lots...too much for us..Probably will not return ..maybe new owners or new cook..so..????Reviews help one to making decisions ..very helpful. And this is our most recent opinion. Not a good..
