The birthplace ranch recently got bought by the Cherokee National and they have big plans for the property while maintaining its historic significance. This was an hour stop (I had to pet the cats) but I could see where at this time it could take you less time. It was neat seeing the home and they're going to be restoring it. If you're doing Will Rogers stuff nearby then also plan this in.

My child's class came here right after the museum to have a sack lunch and to see the house. The two gentlemen that gave the tour, were very knowledgeable and friendly with the kids. We got to explore the house, eat outside on the picnic tables, and pet the animals. They even let you feed them! There are tables in the barn & a bathroom if you wanted to eat inside. No gift shops at the home but plenty of options at the museum. Beautiful property! Get little gem to explore & enjoy in Oklahoma.

20 miles north of the Memorial for Will Rogers is the Birthplace Ranch. It's waaaaay the heck out of the way of anything. You basically take back roads and long middle of no where roads to get to it. but when you get there? it's absolutely beautiful.i had read about where will grew up, but had no idea how pretty it was. the house is on top of a hill overlooking lake oologah. the view is stunning. and to think- back in those days there weren't boats or anything out there spinning around. it had be be gorgeous. still is, but even so.you can wander around here for free. there's animals wandering around the grounds, like horses, goats, and birds. i just couldn't get over how beautiful it was.i was there towards the end of the day, so i didn't really lollygag around. the animals were heading in for the night, and i went through the house as quickly as possible without losing the chance to take a glimpse. they have the house set up like most historical buildings. it looks like it would have 100 years ago.pretty neat.

Breathtakingly beautiful and so much fun. We stopped here during a recent trip to visit family in the area and I'm so glad we did! It's definitely out of the way, but so worth it. Beautiful scenery for the adults, lots of animals for the kids. Everyone was happy!Plus, baby goats! I mean, do you need any other reason?

Worth the side trip! House was moved due to lake but still impressive. Plan on making sure you go the memorial if only doing one. This stop takes about 20 minutes but the view for a family picnic could be longer.

We used the meeting room in the barn for our Oklahoma Palomino Exhibitor Association general membership meeting. Very warm and comfortable on a really cold day for lunch and a meeting. Self guided tours were very quick and informative in the home.

I have passed by this place multiple times and was curious. It is about 30min from I-44. The house doesn't have a docent but does have a property caretaker for you to ask questions. The house is not in the original location but is still in the original lot where Will Roger's grew up. The caretaker, Jordan (?) explained what the plan is and what have been done recently. It is a pretty area overlooking the lake with lots of trees and beautiful scenery. If you are here, consider visit the museum where Will Roger's and family are buried.

Beautiful ranch but posting this as a warning to others. I was attacked by a rooster twice today while at the ranch. Thank goodness I had heavy jeans on or my leg would have been cut to pieces. I was walking around minding my own business, walking in the opposite direction when he attacked the back of my leg. I was in shock and kept walking away when he did it again. He broke the skin through my jeans so imagine if someone had shorts on or if he attacked a child. Please do not allow your children around the roosters and be on guard.

I knew Will Rogers grew up near Oologah, OK, but I didn't know where exactly. I wasn't looking for his home, I was just driving along Hwy 169 trying to make it to Coffeyville, Kansas, before dark. I happened to see a small sign pointing to the home and knew I had to take a detour since I may not be back in this area again. Wow, I'm sure glad I did! It was very impressive! It was 6:30 pm and the gates were supposed to close at 5 pm, so my visit was rushed. I didn't want to delay them closing the property for the night so I hurried. I didn't see any other people, but I was sure surprised to see all the longhorns! They were roaming freely...probably 15-20 of them! The sign said they were used to visitors, but to pet them at your own risk. Since I didn't plan to pet them, I wasn't concerned. There was even a friendly cat that came up to be petted. The house, the view, and the grounds are beautiful. It was very interesting to see the home. It was set up as if the Rogers family still lived there. I'm certainly glad we took the time to see this!
