Uptown Grocery

Well it was the last Wednesday in a February so I had to go back for the 1/2 price sushi rolls. This time I arrived before lunch and a much better selection.This was a great idea . . . maybe they will keep this going!

This review is for the bakery. I ordered a Cars themed birthday cake for my son's birthday. I placed the order in person and gave them a picture of what I wanted. I also sent my order via e-mail with a picture, as asked to do so. One difference that I wanted from the picture is that instead of a round road, I wanted a straight road, from the back to the front of the cake. I also stated in my e-mail that if my requests were not able to be done to please let me know before they made the cake.A few days after I sent the e-mail, I didn't get a response, so I just wanted to follow up and make sure they received it and called them. I spoke to a very friendly young lady and went over every aspect of my order with her, especially making sure they knew how I wanted the road. Well, I picked up the cake today and not only is it obvious that it was quickly decorated (very sloppy) but for some reason the road doesn't go all the way to the front edge of the cake. Not only that, the width of the road is uneven. To be fair, I didn't notice the road didn't go to the edge until I got home. When I called to ask why the hadn't made the road to the edge of the top of the cake I was told, "He had to write the name so he couldn't make it to the edge." The name is on the FRONT of the cake, not the top. When I told the woman on the phone that that answer didn't make sense to me because the road wouldn't be anywhere near the name if it was finished all the way, she just continued to tell me it couldn't be done. That's when I pointed out to her that I asked in person, and said specifically, in my email that if they couldn't do what I was asking for to let me know ahead of time. Then she told me that they did the cake to the "best of the their understanding." She, rudely, told me to bring the cake back and they'll make it to the edge. I told her that I didn't have time. But also, if it wasn't possible to do when they were making the cake how would it now, all of a sudden, be possible. She just repeated that they did it to the "best of their understanding." I was so upset over this being made out to be MY fault and being spoken to so rudely that I told her that they don't have very good understanding and that it's not rocket science. Because it's not. It's a strip of frosting to the edge of the top of a cake. I'm not a professional baker or cake decorator but I know it is possible. So, if you need a cake with a design, like a strip of frosting, that you want to go from edge to edge on the top of a cake, this isn't the place to order it.I've ordered all my cakes from Uptown Bakery in Edmond for the last eight years but this is the end of the road for me.

On New Year's Eve I went to this location off Covell in Edmond for a great birthday cake. Dec 31st is my birthday and also a friend's birthday. I was cheerfully greeted and assisted by a young woman, brunette hair working behind the bakery counter. I purchased pie-sized fruit tart and a white cake with fruit and chocolate on top of a whipped white cream frosting. Both were to die for. Next I saw a special sale on fresh roses and went to the floral department where I was expertly and wonderfully cared for by very pleasant Shea! She designed and wrapped the 2 rose bouquets so well she made me look brilliant in presenting these later that evening. This definitely was a 5 out of 5 Stars shopping and customer experience! Kudos on a sensational job done on a very busy day ladies and the Edmond Uptown Grocery team.

I sometimes go here for lunch to get salad and a few other items I can't find at your regular grocery store. They have so many unique items and they have I feel like the biggest cheese selection of a grocery store in Oklahoma. Don't forget the freshly made sushi, super kind people. Now I get it this place isn't for everyone cause the prices can be a bit much, however if around and wanting to change it up; go here!

This store is fantastic. So much variety, very clean, great service and amazing meat section. The only thing I did not care for is their cakes, pastries, tarts etc...in the bakery dept. they did not look good or pretty to the eye. possibly ordering a custom cake would be much different? However, what they had available without an order wasn't really appealing. Look and flavor wise. I have always loved fresh fruit tarts. The ones here looked awful. We ended up getting one of their cakes in the cooler section right next to the bakery counter. Up town did not make the cake, it was shipped in. it was good, nothing fancy, but tasted good and was cute. I highly recommend this store for all your needs, even flowers.

The only thing UPTOWN about this place is the PRICE. Lunch meat is left out for viewing pre sliced so the flys can enjoy it. The produce is always from Mexico and the bakery is nothing special. The store selection is similar to any small grocery store in Oklahoma. I used to be able to buy beer there but now I can't find a reason to stop there at all. Well maybe if I'm driving down the road and pass by and have the sudden urge to pay too much for some really crappy produce. Or just need something to bitch about (Lol). Crest is the Best! (just my opinion)

Coming here use to always be fun. Now even in the full check out line you have to bag and load your groceries. If I go to the self service like, I expect that but the full service line use to be better. I like to think my elderly mother could go and not have trouble but this is not the case anymore.

I wanted to like this store, because I loved the Uptown in the village when I lived in OKC. But my first few visits here have been less than impressive. It looks good, but the quality leaves a lot to be desired.At the OKC Uptown, you don't have to look too closely at the expiration dates; I never found anything there that was even close to spoiling. Maybe they just have a bigger clientele and turn things over more quickly? Maybe they do a better job in general of turning things over? This Edmond Uptown I learned pretty quickly to check each expiration date, or you'll be buying food that's within days of it's expiry date. And I feel like that's one thing. But what's worse is what went down at the meat counter on my first ever visit to this grocery store. I bought chicken on a Sunday, to cook on Monday. I ordered directly from the butcher, the nicest chicken they sold. I got it home and put it in the fridge. I did not make any stops or run any other errands before I got home and put my groceries up. The next day, my husband was starting to cook dinner when he came and asked me how old the chicken was. I said I got it yesterday, and he said, well, then they sold you chicken that was already spoiled, because this chicken looks and smells old AF. I went to take a look for myself and I was shocked. It was not just a little bit past its prime. It was completely rancid. It's hard to imagine they pulled that chicken and packaged it for me without realizing something wasn't right. I should have taken it back, but this Uptown is so far from where we live. I couldn't just pop back in the car and run it over there at dinner time, with two small kids at home, while also having to come up with something else to cook on the fly, since I had to throw the chicken out. I usually give managers the chance to make something right before writing a bad review, but in this case, they had the chance to check the chicken before they wrapped it up and handed it to me, and they didn't. I'm not saying I will never go back, but it's not my top choice and I won't go out of my way to shop here as I did at the OKC location.

10/10/2022 Went to the deli to order dinner for evening. It was a long day and I wasn't in the mood to cook. I ordered the Chicken Scallopini and the Roasted Brussel Sprouts. The chicken was the driest thing I have ever eaten and the "Roasted" Brussel Sprouts were just blatantly raw and uncooked. I also had left over homemade, by myself, red potatoes. The potatoes were great and had absolutely nothing to do with Uptown Grocery. Here is a picture of the food I ordered. The chicken is inedible as so is the Brussel sprouts. What a horrible experience. I'd rather drive further and pay more for better quality food. Odds of me returning to patron this company is.... Slim to none.
