Finding thins for my autistic client is hard and today was a little tougher. The weather was beautiful and it fell on a Sunday, so where does everyone go? The zoo. We loved all the chi its we made it too and it was a great trip, but the overwhelming noise made it hard for my angel. Not the zoo's doing and we agreed we would be back because it was "totally sigma."

I enjoy visiting different Zoos around the country - and this place is cute. Bigger then expected it had some fun things like the ability to feed the giraffes, observe, rhinos, watch, chimpanzees play, and enjoy an assortment of other animals. One of the more interesting things that I know it was the massive amount of different areas for children, be they the playground, pet farm, and just a lot of great family activities. If in Tulsa looking to spend a day it was well run and clean with good animalEnclosures

I grew up going to this zoo, as did my dad (and probably my grandparents too.) The zoo has been around since 1927 with some of the exhibits stil in use being built by the WPA during the Great Depression. My latest visit was last week and I was disappointed by how many pens had no animals in them. We went to the fancy, new elephant area - no elephants. Luckily there were 2 in the old pen, but why open the building if no animals have been moved over yet? This zoo is heavy on reptiles and birds. No polar bear anymore, didn't see any zebras, didn't see any lions. I noticed that the glass was very dirty and hard to see into the pens. The sheer amount of screaming and kids banging on the glass was unreal. The animals are better behaved than the humans at the zoo. I wish that like the Toronto Zoo, the Tulsa Zoo would put up signs about the importance of being quiet because it stresses out the animals. Most of the animals were in a corner hidden from view in their pens or at least as far away from spectators as they could get. I can see why the animals are stressed when people don't believe in parenting their screaming-banshee-sounding kids. This zoo is very affordable and they allow outside food and drinks. It took us just 2 hours to see everything, although we skipped the children's zoo - which is apparently the petting zoo + river otters. We were bummed about missing the otters and the polar bear.Visited March 2024.

The Tulsa Zoo has all the animals that you would want to see including my favorites elephants, giraffes and giant tortoises, oh my! I missed out on the giraffe feedings so I'm already planning my next trip. Not to be missed zoo nights are after-hours for adults 21+ held monthly throughout the year. The zoo is a good size so there's plenty to see and lots of reasons to keep coming back.

There is lots of parking for the zoo. Once you park you cross over a bridge to get in line for tickets and then there are lots of options to explore the zoo. Lions, tigers and bears where to start? There are several kiosks with drinkers and snacks. There is a carousel and kids party and don't forget the petting area. Be careful with your map, one of the goats might take it from you. It was great weather for exploring and getting your steps and checking out the zoo and all the animals.

Ok, ten years ago when I was in college, this was my favorite zoo. After a decade of traveling the country, having kids, and visiting many more zoos in much larger cities (DC, Houston, Seattle, Dallas), I can confidently confirm that this is still my favorite. First of all, the ticket prices are a steal compared to a big city zoo. The layout is designed really well, so that it's easy to follow along the route and not be afraid of missing anything. It easily takes 2.5-3 hours to take a leisurely trip through the place. Tons of shade and clean indoor exhibit centers make for a nice break from any weather. The animals all seem happy, with tidy enclosures and frequent notes from staff on the exhibits that make it all feel very up-to-date and personal. We didn't catch any shows this time, but last time we were here we sat in on both sea lion and elephant demonstrations that were so great that I still remember them today (10+ years later!). I didn't notice the playground at all before I had kids, but it's amazing! It seems very new, with some styles of structure similar to the Gathering Place, and others entirely their own! My kids were in love and could have stayed on the playground all day if we'd let them. We were so glad we made the stop here during our visit.

Tulsa Zoo is such an incredible experience and continues to get better! We did a family day and took grandma along. From the new animal home upgrades to the interactive areas you can easily spend a full day enjoying it. If you're visiting Tulsa it should be a must on your list!

Very disappointing trip to the zoo today. Prices have gone up (understandable). However, when there is more construction going on at the zoo than animals on exhibit?!?! Hard pass. Was looking at a membership - OMG!!!!!! I miss the days when Mathis Brothers did the membership drive.

The Zoo was great. Went with a group of friends. It was easy to find our way around with the maps they had. We went when the Tiger cubs were only a couple months old. They also have active sea lions and a cool inside rainforest!! Would go again!
