The Tulsa Spotlight Theater is the home of Spotlight Children's Theater and The Drunkard & The Olio. The children's theater has five productions each season with local talent of all ages. Their Christmas play is coming up next weekend and they're doing the Velveteen Rabbit and Pollyanna next year! The Drunkard & The Olio is the historic and longest-running play in the U.S. It started in 1953 and has never stopped. Performances are on Saturdays at 7:30pm. It's an interactive play with lots of audience engagement. The building itself is and feels historic. It's easy to notice on riverside due to its white and tall facade. I reached out to them about doing a private event and Lauren, their operations manager was extremely helpful. She graciously scheduled a time to give me a tour of the space and shared all sorts of great history facts about the space. I believe they'll be launching an campaign to raise funds for renovations, which is exciting! A group of very dedicated volunteers makes all the magic happen. I'm excited about what's to come for this organization!

I highly recommend this place if you want to have an evening of fun and feel like a kid again. My husband and I went there not knowing what to expect. When we learned they have the same play all the time, we didn't think we'd go back after seeing it once. We plan to go back many times. It's not a play in which the plot is important. It's an experience. It's a perfect play to give the audience that kind of experience. Why change it. I want to take my grandchildren there. We can be kids again with them. You laugh, you sing, cheer, you boo, and you throw tomatoes at the villain. We loved it and will return.

I have been a fan of the melodrama show THE DRUNKARD shown on Saturday evenings over the years. I attended a performance in my teens, and as an adult with my children, and more recently my grandchildren. The show has been going for decades and I recommend it highly. It's live theater done in an old melodramatic style with audience participating in cheering the hero and booing the villain. Great family entertainment with lots of laughs.

This show has been showing for decades, and I've been several times. And it's still tons of fun. Since it's live theater, it's always going to be a little different. I can't recommend it highly enough for fun family entertainment. And if you're gifted with a good pitching arm, throwing tomatoes at the villain is highly encouraged. I loved it.
