I sometimes attend luncheons sponsored by OU's Center for studies in Democracy and Culture. They have luncheons usually catered by Olive Garden. Last month it was catered by Billy Simms BBQ. The food is always good and we get to listen to interesting lectures while we sip on our ice tea. My concern is that the information in the lectures seems to be tilted toward the Democrat Party. That's not surprising because most professors in Universities are Democrat. I just wish it was a little more balanced. The last lecture was neutral. It was an interesting speech about Route 66.

The good, the bads and the uglies...all seen here. I chose OU Tulsa because it offered my program (Social Work) and it has a reputation for being pretty cutting edge. Mostly, unlike the Norman Campus, there is parking! The facilities are new and updated and full of every convenience. The library is comfortable and a student has access to everything the main campus . The staff are professional and helpful. The student lounge is comfortable and there is wifi access throughout the camps. On the down side, there is only one place to eat and though it is good enough, they are not open for late nite coffee breaks.I am excited to see a new library structure going in now. The old library seems adequate but if the same architect is chosen for this as was for the learning center, it will be wonderfully comfortable. The learning center has study rooms available which makes quiet study a snap but also works for collaborative efforts. Overall, good facilities. On the down side, paying for school can not be done easily. The bursar's office accepts electronic checks and credit cards but only a few and with thatis a surcharge. This really torques me off. The bookstore is a little lame but I do recommend using online resources to buy books used. I found the usual half.com and amazon good resources if instructors release their syllabus in time.If you can avoid using the crappy computers in the middle section of the library, do it. These have prehistoric scanners attached to them and have the capability of the first 8088 pc. Your department should have better scanning and computing possibilities so avoid these. The Arts and Sciences computer lab was terrific and accessible 24-7.This is a comfortable, safe facility, packed full of professional instructors. I'd call it one of the best experiences ever.
