Never knew about this place but the prices are very reasonable and when it comes to service they offer theirs with nice friendly genuine smiles. If you ever need something custom with beads, this is the best bead place I've ever stepped foot into. Five Stars

I'm not an expert making bracelets or jewelry, but I like crystals, gem stones and the like. I always hang a crystal on my car rear view mirror. I was given a nice crystal recently and I wanted to put it in my car. But I needed a chain or leather. So I went to the bead merchant and the lady showed me various options. She recommended a thin, strong wire and showed how to clamp it. It was perfect for my use. A week later I took a nice quartz crystal to the store. They showed me how to wrap a gold wire around the crystal and leave a loop. I asked them if they could do that for me as I am not delicate or artistic sometimes. Then I choose a proper chain. I'm very happy with the necklace and I get a lot of compliments. So I'm very pleased with the service and with the variety of products.

Really eclectic items. The bead strands are a bit pricey but selection is fantastic. I love the bowls of loose beads and spacers and these are what I stock up on when I visit. Make sure you sign up for the "bead card" if you're a frequent shopper.The staff is very friendly and helpful or they will just let you browse and pick out your own items. The Bead Merchant is also a great little gift shop, too, with fun jewelry and other funky items.

When I first found out about the bead merchant I was excited to go and check this place out. Once I finally got to go my hopes and dreams about this place swirled the drain faster than a rubber duck after bath time. As I shopped not one single employee greeted me or offered help. The employees sat around at a table talking loudly at each other and if I needed help or had a question I would have to interrupt them to which they would treat me as an inconvenience. I had a question or two about some gemstones and there prices (*Things were not labelled clearly, the ones that were labelled you couldn't read. Also there were stones and beads labelled as one thing that were clearly not that item.) and when I tried to voice those questions the owner/employee (*I'm not sure if she was the owner or an employee.) acted indignant, so I decided to just purchase what I had and leave. When I let her know I was ready to check out she handed half of my merchandise to someone else and kept the other half herself and then both women proceeded to shout out random prices to a third woman at the register. I was then quoted a price of $40.00 for a VERY small handful of beads and when I questioned the total the owner/ employee got upset and snapped at me "Well do you want an itemization." At that I replied that I would. She proceeded to snap prices at me and tell me what I would be paying if I went elsewhere. I never did get an itemized receipt. *After leaving I did go elsewhere and got a lot of the same items and a good deal more of them for half the price.

Learning how to make my own men's bracelets. Thought it would mean more looking down, knowing I made it is something nice, so I heard about The Bead Merchant.FANTASTIC service. Very friendly and helpful. They have thousands of beads, different styles, feels and looks, and everything else you need as well accessory wise.I asked if they could order more men's colors for bracelets and within a week or so they called me telling me they had ordered a bulk of variety colors! Went back today - 8/5/16 and they had them! I haven't had time to sit down with them, but they offered to help show me the easiest way to make a men's stretch bracelet, so I will be back again soon for the help. Wish you all had a store in BA somewhere but for now it's worth the drive!Recommend to anybody!

Buy local for your crafting and hobby needs! It's easy to spend more time (and money) than you planned in this colorful, cozy, inviting shop. The staff was cheerful and happy to help, or to allow customers to dawdle and browse on their own.

I just LOVE this store! I myself have a beaded necklace and bracelet business and the bead here are perfect! And sooo much cheaper that hobby lobby or Michaels. I bought a huge strand of crystal beads for .99¢ the prices were heaven! Plus the ladies working were just so kind! They helped me find what I needed. A defiant ! Love this store!

Susanne at the Bead Merchant bent over backwards to ship me two rings across the country in a very timely manner. Great customer service. Her selection is broad and the quality is high. 10/10.
