Such a hidden feature. I came into it with no real expectation and was blown away. I never knew there was so much interesting facts about pigeons! Also the employee was the best. She was so nice and welcoming and answered all of our questions. It's only open Friday and Saturday, but you have to give it a visit.

We stopped by on vacation as part of our traveling homeschool experience. We found the displays engaging, the staff super knowledgeable, and the love pigeons out back very interesting. I had no idea there were over 5,000 breeds of show pigeons!! We also learned that a specific breed of pigeon, which used to be the most common bird in North America, has recently become extinct. They used to travel in flocks so huge they'd block out the Sun for up to 14 hours!! If you are remotely interested in learning something new and different, stop in. We thought it was gray and our kids enjoyed the scavenger hunt.

Quaint museum. The artwork is amazing. The live pigeons were beautiful. I suggest meeting "Lady Gaga". The videos are very interesting. The volunteer helping us was very knowledgeable and friendly. I do plan on visiting again.

The American Pigeon Museum and Library is a most winsome curiosity. Before I visited here, I knew nearly nothing about what city slickers consider to be winged vermin, but the history and culture of the much-maligned bird is fascinating and depicted in an engaging way in this quaint and carefully curated space. There were no birds on display the day I visited because it was too hot, but a row of a dozen tiny metal cages sat waiting for them outside in front of the building. I'm glad the pigeons were hidden away somewhere; it would have been too pitiful to see the baby birds baking in the sun in 95 degree heat. The military role pigeons played during WWII is intriguing, and learning about that saga is worth the trip alone. I was saddened to see how humans brought about the extinction of the passenger pigeon, but also encouraged by the beneficial conservation efforts for other animals that resulted from the passenger's demise.I suggest you spend an hour of your day here sometime discovering this tiny wonder, and perhaps you too will come away with a newfound respect for the humble pigeon.

My daughter and I visited this museum last summer. We got there early and got a tour of the coops as the pigeons were being picked to be displayed. Will revisit!

A breeding and training center for racing pigeons. You can see a bird that is worth over $10,000. It is open to the public and the friendly, and somewhat crazy, staff seems more than happy to give free tours. Sadly, this may be the most fun you will have in OKC. To go there and not stop at the Pigeon Center is to go to Paris and not see the Eiffel Tower.

I have to admit I was the skeptic. My husband wanted us to go and I made fun of him all day. Well, color me pleasantly surprised! What a fascinating museum! The first thing we got to do was meet some very unique breeds of pigeons. We even got to hold one. Then we watched a 20 minute video on the history of pigeons. I had no idea how critical of a role hey played in WWII! Then, there is the racing component! The museum is filled with great artifacts and the curator knows her stuff! Best of all, it's FREE! (But donations are appreciated and WELL worth it!) Make the time to visit while you're in OKC. You won't regret it!
