L initially we had some reservations about ordering the chicken fry because we were afraid, as we find in other establishments, that it was frozen and processed in a bag. We were assured by our waitress that it was fresh. She said the only thing they get frozen is their sausage patties and everything else is made fresh. So, with that little bit of information, we went ahead with the chicken fry and opted for the corn beef Reuben, which she said is also made in house. The chicken fry was steak from end to end. No extra batter on the sides to make it look big. That's all meat you seeing in that photo! And the corn beef was delicious! Well, done, sunny side!

The fat Elvis was so freaking good. Loved the peanut butter and the pecans. Ordered to go and everything was fresh and delish! I still hate the eggs on the biscuits and gravy lol .

I awoke this morning far too early, the kind of early that comes from having circled the sun about 50 times. It was 4:30AM. Some of you will understand... definitely too early after going to bed sometime after midnight. Usually, I'd just go back to sleep, but this morning, my mood oddly resonated with the Amy Winehouse song: "You Know I'm No Good."It's June 5th, 2024, and for the past two months, I've been mildly shell-shocked by this spring's string of tornadoes. A little rattled even, because I'm not used to tornadoes, having come to OKC from Southern California for work, temporarily staying in my camper with my two cats at an RV park. But the song resonated for some reason... was it because of the naders? Maybe it's the unease of not knowing if the next anvil cloud would throw down baseball-sized hail through my vintage 1960 camper and get my cats while I'm at work? Maybe it's because my damn lawyer just sent me the draft of my divorce papers from my wife. Yeah that one's probably it.Sorry, if I've digressed... this is a restaurant review after all.I've been mildly addicted to Sunnyside Diner's Avocado Toast ever since I discovered it two weekends ago. What I mean is, ever since that first time, I keep musing back to that first moment when I drove my knives through the middle of it and it gushed out the most beautiful molten orange egg yolk. It was curious because most eggs these days are yellow, not orange. The orange of a Coronado sunset. It's constructed of sourdough toast, shmeared with fresh avocado, perfectly cooked bacon slices, with piping hot orange over-easy eggs wilting a thin bed of arugula, topped with the most delightful pickled sweet red onions. So this morning, when I woke up too early in that mild funk, a video clip played in my head... the bursting orange Coronado sunset-eggs of Sunnyside Diner's Avocado Toast, and it became my mission to get it. It's nearly perfection and Sunnyside Diner should be proud of it.

The food service was extremely slow with the result of a very underwhelming meal. The fried chicken and country fried steak were mainly just breading. My husband asked for scrambled eggs and got a fried egg.Lastly (as pictured) the side of fruit was literally brown and had gone bad.Because the quality control was so bad there's no chance we are coming back. Diners are pretty common in OKC, so skip this one.

Food was awesome and tasted fresh. I had the chicken and biscuit sandwich and it was some of the best hand breaded chicken I've had in a while. The eggs were also farm fresh eggs which is always a win.

So I'm sitting here waiting yet again for service. First clue should have been when we were coming in a couple was outside looking for their waiter so they could pay. He told them to go back inside and he would be right there. Now keep in mind this was supposed to be a relaxed no hurry family breakfast so our demand level was at an all time low. By the time our server came to take the drink order we were ready to order but apparently she wasn't to take it. Another server brought out the food albeit incomplete and rather lukewarm. At one point I went to the counter to ask for the fries that didn't come with the burger and syrup for the pancakes. It was hard to judge the food since the rest of the experience was so poor.

I have been to this specific place for breakfast as often as I can. I have ate and drank everything on their menu multiple times. Not one single time have I been even slightly disappointed. This place is one of my all-time favorite places to eat breakfast. And I am extremely critical.
