Sunday Dinner by Janet

How many of you have heard of Sunday Dinner by Janet? I love good soul food, so when I heard of this place, we had to try it. While called Sunday Dinner, we came for a Saturday lunch. I wasn't able to find many photos of the place and wasn't sure what to expect. We walked in and discovered they serve "buffet" style similar to Nelson's. She ordered the smothered chicken, and I had the smothered pork chops. They had quite a selection of sides, yet somehow we both got mac n cheese and broccoli rice casserole. This never happens as we usually coordinate and order different items just to try more things.Our meats tasted great and were super tender. The mac was flavorful, and the casserole was good, but a little too mushy for my taste.Let me know if you've been and what you thought of it. And if you haven't, go give them a try and support a real local restaurant.

I was hooked when I found out they were going to cook my fish to order done and done. Well let me back up as I pulled I saw the parking was full around the block so that is a sign of good food and service. I went on a Sunday after church so, of course, it was packed, I saw cakes, banana pudding, and deserts galore in the fridge. The menu was decked out in a nice font on the right side of the wall and the sides were in front of you and continuously being refreshed. The staff was amazing and handled the huge crowd in the restaurant with grace and smiles, even making recommendations on items to order. I ended up with the catfish, mac and cheese, and collards. I got my order to go and it was still hot after the 20-minute ride to my hotel. The seasoning on the fish was A1 and it had just the amount of crunch needed if you are in the city GO TO THIS PLACE.

We arrived at 11am and walked into a fresh ready to serve lunch. We had the chicken with stuffing tasted just like Thanksgiving The catfish was amazing and cooked fresh to order. Huge portions we left ready for a nap.

The food at Sunday Dinner by Janet is AMAZING!!! The service is always friendly and fast. I recently had my sister's birthday dinner and my Kid's gender reveal there. The restaurant is a cute place to sit and chat with family and friends for lunch or dinner. Ms. Janet is super nice and friendly. She mingles with the customers and just makes you want to come back.

The food was good and quite eye catching reminds you of Sunday dinners at grandmas. The services needs work in the area of checking on patrons that were there to dine in also theirs no salt pepper or other condiments on the table when asked about salt and pepper packets I was only given one of each. The table we sat at wasn't balanced and my tea spilled over. The food was delicious.

Found this place on accident and I'm glad I did. Excellent service by pleasant staff. Everything I ate was wonderful. They charge a bit more if your use a card so be sure to bring cash.

Staff was professional and courteous. Food was very good. I had chicken, dressing, sweet potatoes and green beans. Needed a great comfort meal to ease my busy day. They did not disappoint.

I had the chicken and dressing with green beans. It was not bland or overly seasoned. It's was just right for a restaurant that serves the masses. Do not have a picture right now. The portions were just enough to squeeze two meals. In my opinion. I would order the chicken and dressings again. I was told the place is very professional, but not a large area.

If you are looking for down home, good old Soul Food like Fried Chicken, Fried Catfish Fillets, Smothered Pork-chops, Smothered Chicken, Salisbury Steak, Chicken and Dressing, Meatloaf, with all the best veggies such as Candied Yams, Greens, Cabbage, Mac & Cheese, Black-eyed peas, stewed Okra and Tomatoes, BBQ Beans, Corn, Green Beans. Don't forget the desserts, banana pudding, her famous strawberry cake, lemon bunt cake, butter cake with chocolate frosting, cheesecake, red velvet to name a few, this is place to be. Open Thursday-Sunday, 11am-6pm.
