I needed a quick bite because we had shopping to do there and we were pressed for time... I ordered the P & B with in house made raspberry jam ($7) It was hard to taste the flavor of jam because there was nothing barely there. She hardly put any peanut butter or jam on it. It was spread so very thin. So it was dry. Mostly bread. That was disappointing. I paid $7.00 for two slices of bread it felt like. The Turkey sandwich ($12) looked good! So juicy from the red, very beautiful tomato that was on it. The sandwiches didn't come with a side, so the prices felt too high for what we actually got. But given the location.... It's kind of expected I guess. I probably won't be returning honestly. They also have a soda fountain and water. Good tasting water. Sometimes fountain water is gross.

We were in the area running errands and decided to stop in. This restaurant and market used to be a monthly stop for us when we lived in the area. Always fresh ingredients, healthy, and flavorful. The market has grown and more stuff has been added since we've been here. Great upper scale wine selection and unique grab and go meals. We love the frozen soup entrees. We bought 8 to take home for my freezer. They are only around 11$ per box and 2 servings. You just put the bag in boiling water for 40 minutes and you have a meal. Chicken noodle, chilie verde (mostly meat not really a soup) clam chowder and lobster bisque are our favorites. Back in the day the lobster bisque used to have chunks of lobster in it. Not sure if we got a random one without meat or if they stopped putting in lumps of meat but we were disappointed in that. Flavor was still on point but without the lobster it's just not as good. Overall still a nice place and reasonable fresh soups. If they truly took out the lobster to cut cost, I will not purchase that one again.

If I lived closer, I would never cook again. I thought the prices were reasonable and there's lots to choose from...grab and go salads to entrees. Wine is available as well as desserts. If you haven't stopped in ever, do so as soon as you are able.

Cute little market on Utica Square associated with Stone Horse Cafe. Stone Horse Cafe also has a bakery attached, used to make their baked goods. The market sells a selection of goods, but also has salads and sandwiches. There's a small selection of frozen goods and a limited selection of wine. The best feature is most products carry the Stone Horse brand so you won't be able to purchase them elsewhere which makes it unique. It's a small market so don't expect a lot. On this particular day, I wanted a hot meal so decided to dine in at the cafe. Please check out my follow up review on that.

Kinda shocked so few reviews. Now that I know, I will add some pics next time. Favorites:MREs (meals ready to eat)-- almost. Likewise The prepared sides (just oven) are very good. Check out the scalloped potatoes. Frozen soups likewise are good. Frozen cookie dough - yes sir !Freshly made Sandwiches at lunchtime. Desserts ! Oh my. From homemade ice creams to pastries, cake, creme brûlée, and so on -- they are constantly rolling out something special. With a restaurant of SH's quality, believe me they've got you covered. They also have a salad bar, a small assortment of gourmet groceries (cheese, crackers, jams, etc.). A salad bar. The prepared salads, under the pastries, in the glass cooler are pricey. Hit or miss to my taste. But to each his own. This place is a gem.

So far. Visited for the first time this morning, having started the day by spilling coffee all over my white shirt! They weren't even open but graciously let me peruse & purchase. Busy, busy people. I'll start by saying long before I Yelped, I reviewed on google & Chowhound. Stone horse Cafe has been on my list of "despicable" after several visits where hubby & I were treated badly & the food was less than acceptable. I may revisit as a Yelper Elite. I've given others chance after chance with no change. So, we'll see. (And so sad. We've always loved & patronized the restaurants in that location. Many, many fond memories, having always been in walking distance. Prior owners would even bring water for our Jack Russell. Never crappy food for the people & say, "Tough luck", as current owner. Tim Inman, right?)So, with some trepidation I visited their market. Upon a quick perusal I was impressed. Wow, all those hard to find items, like prescutto by the pound. Small, reasonably priced vacuum sealed packages of Italian sausages, so you don't have to buy more than you need. Meat-I noted whole beef filets. A salad bar, sandwiches, a huge case of specialty breads, bakery items. AND a huge case of cheeses. Hubby loves his cheese & I can't wait to take him here. But the proof is in the pudding, right? All I bought today was an almond pastry, a croissant & a chocolate croissant, hands down my all-time favorite. I gave the four stars based on what I "saw". I mean, you can't mess up cheese, right? The almond pastry could have done with a quick nuke, my bad. I cut into it and thought, "oh, a take on Baklava". Wrong. Not as sweet, flaky, tasty. I liked it. I've been on a near starvation diet (yea, on purpose) so I should have leaped happily at any real food. But having eaten actual, real French croissants (around the world) just about as long as I can remember, I found them lacking & overdone. I was there "first" thing in the morning so they should have had that freshly baked, flaky, oozy "chocolate ness". They did not. Oh to be in Europe or even the French Caribbean.

Really thankful for this little gem in Utica Square. Fresh made, take-home food which is handcrafted daily and very reasonably priced for this upscale market. Seasonal variations of new and time tested recipes impress the most finicky diners. Stop by on your way home from work and surprise your family with a five star, simple to assemble meal at home.

This place was a disappointment. I expected a lot more, considering the status of the Stone Horse Cafe. There's a lot of "Ready to Eat" food to pick up here in fridges and freezers, but I questioned how old a lot of it was. There weren't made dates or expiration dates and a lot of the containers had labels that looked really old/wrinkled/water stained. There's also a bakery and a case with preserved/professionally packaged cheeses and foods. Those are the areas I'd stick to if I bought anything from here.

Love the Stonehorse Market! It's taken some of the sting out of losing Petty's Fine Foods. Fine foods abound here including prime beef from Creekstone Farms. They regularly have a huge bone in ribeye that we roasted as a prime rib one evening. It was delicious! We paired it with some of their horseradish cream sauce which was way better than mine! They have a whole high end deli with prepared foods like scalloped potatoes, BBQ chicken, pasta salads, dips, etc. They also carry marinated duck breasts which are next on my list to try. I've been having to order my duck online since Petty's closed. They also have a salad bar, numerous frozen soups, and bulk nuts. Anything you need to prepare or just heat up your gourmet meal can be found at this market in Utica Square!
