South Fork is no longer open. Closed permanently in 2019. Excellent food and terrific service, South Fork delivers more than expected. The food is typical of lake country favorites but with an unexpected higher level of seasonings and preparation skills not normally encountered in small town cafes. Multiple daily specials and menu staples combine to offer something for everyone.Servers are energetic and very friendly, making sure each patron feels appreciated. The buffalo chicken sandwich, a recent daily offering, was the best chicken sandwich I've ever had. Fried in a light, crispy coating and topped with blue cheese crumbles on a real brioche bun the 8oz chicken breast was juicy and succulent. Fries wee fresh cut and abundant! My wife really enjoyed her Ruben sandwich on marbled rye. The strawberry walnut salad was outstanding as well. The bottom line is having a professional chef behind the menu and kitchen prep is a departure from the typical "head cook" of most small restaurants and it shows in every dimension.South Fork is closed for the winter

This is a big elaborate restaurant in a very small town. It was built from the ground up and has a modern farm house feel. The owners, Matt and Patsy Travis are incredible people. Patsy a sweet lady who was born and raised in the small town of Gore and she is the woman behind the vision of the restaurant. Her husband is the business man/go-getter who helped bring her dream to life. They have operated this restaurant for about a year and have had their fair trails (if you can imagine running a restaurant and in a small town) their faith remains and they still continue to pour into the restaurant and try so many different things to get it right and are continually making changes to better accommodate guests and their employees. There are days and moments where it is the most incredible atmosphere and food that I have tried. There are days where they're still trying to get it right and roll with the punches. It's all perfection to me and it is well worth trying. You must check it out! God Bless South Fork.

The food did not live up to it's reputation, i believe the regular cook was out. And they must have been short staffed since the wait staff seemed overwhelmed and service was very slow.

Cute decor, friendly staff, clearly homemade. Had burrito bowl, husband had burger and cup of broccoli cheddar soup. All delicious and above what you would expect for a roadside find. Gem of a place

Waited to be seated though tables were available. Took 10 minutes to receive our menus. Had to ask for silverware. Two sets of silverware were delivered although three people were sitting at the table. Order was taken for two Caesar salads and one hamburger and fries. After 30 minutes no food had been delivered and we never saw the waitress again. A different employee appeared and reported there was no Caesar dressing in the building. They had sent an employee to the store. At that point we told them ranch dressing would be just fine. 15 minutes later our salads finally appeared with Caesar salad dressing. We then asked for the hamburger and fries. The employee said "oh yeah". The hamburger and fries appeared about 15 minutes after the salads. It was difficult to even enjoy our meal at that point. When it was time to pay and leave this joint. The cashier behind the counter would not take the check or the cash we gave her because she had to find the original waitress who took our order and disappeared. 30 minutes of "Hell" passed by and finally she appeared, took our money and out the door we left. We will never, ever go back to this restaurant again.

We arrived with a party of 4 and were seated, given menus, ordered water, a cup of coffee, they appeared and then the fun began. Ordered an appetizer of breaded fried mushrooms. When they appeared, we were given no table service, no plates and no napkins. Luckily we had grabbed some napkins from another table, this to put 3 under the table leg to stop the rocking. So the rest of the napkins were used as plates as well as the lids from the ranch dressing, we ate with our fingers and licked our fingers. 3 cheeseburgers, 1 with no tomato or onion with Swiss cheese, 1 provolone and 1 American were ordered and 2 orders of fries plus 1 Reuben and 2 ranch dressings. After a time we were informed they were out of provolone so Swiss is fine. Our orders came, we had to ask for napkins and silverware, the Reuben had very little sauerkraut and when I bit into it, it was so stringy and tough I couldn't bite it so the whole piece pulled out of the sandwich. Once I got it in my mouth it was like chewing on a piece of leather. I couldn't eat it and sent it back! Two of the hamburgers were mixed up so the tomato and onion were exchanged because a bite had been taken out of each. A cheeseburger was ordered to replace the Rueben, no second order of fries was ever delivered and we had to ask for the ranch dressing. The hamburgers were dry and overdone but the coffee was good. So sorry for waitresses to have to deal with such a lousy cook staff! We'll never go back.
