Shawn's Sushi

I saw a post on Facebook and have been wanting to try Shawn's Sushi for a long time. I came here with my family and I am very much disappointed. The prices shown for sushi is very affordable which I think the business would do very well if they were clean and did things a bit differently. I feel gross after eating here. I am a huge supporter of local business but I would much rather eat at a place where the food is priced a bit more and prepared cleanly. I'm assuming the gentleman here is the owner. He runs the business all by himself with no help. It was very slow! While we were waiting for our five rolls to be made, I watched another couple walked in and sat themselves. Then, a USP man comes in with a package. I watched as the owner took off his gloves, grab the package, put it down, grabbed the old gloves and put them back on to prepare our food. Wow!!!! I was immediately shocked. I looked over and my husband was tending to my son who is getting bored at how long it's taking. The couple was now agitated and getting impatient that they were not helped yet. What I regret not doing is speaking up at that moment that we are going to leave and not eat there after seeing how he did not wash his hands!!!! I'm so disappointed. I took my son to the restroom to wash his hands after changing his diaper and there was no soap! The Softsoap bottle sitting on the sink was almost empty. I reached to pump it and it was filled with water. What is the owner of washing his hands with?! Is there a secret bottle in his kitchen? We are in a pandemic! Even if we weren't, I would want to know someone is washing their hands before they prepare my food, after they use the restroom, AND while making my food especially after they handle a package. We order and eat out on a regular basis and I know there are things we don't know nor see but to witness it firsthand and see it for myself, I'm honestly grossed out. I wish this man the best for his business but as a customer I will not return based on my personal experience.

Shawn's Sushi has a great selection of sushi, sashimi, and some teriyaki bowls for kids or your less-adventurous friends. I've visited half a dozen different times, tried several different rolls, and all of them have been great.That being said, every single time I've visited Shawn's Sushi I've been the only person in the restaurant. I don't get it. On a busy road, at the height of the dinner rush, you can stop by here and have the entire place to yourself (unless I'm there, I guess). The owner is always personable and the food is always fresh. I literally don't know why there isn't a line out the door to eat here.

My kids brought back this sushi is the worst they've ever tasted. They said it was plain and lacked flavor. The fish tasted like lake water. Perhaps other days are better, unfortunately this was not a good choice of sushi.

So my wife was craving sushi and we were in the area, so decided to order to go.Pleasantly surprised at how much fresh fish is in each roll of sushi.Had the spicy smoked salmon roll, spider roll, spicy scallop roll, and miso and it was all surprisingly good. The scallop roll was packed with scallops. The spicy smoked salmon roll was good and just what my wife wanted. The spider roll may have needed a little bit more seasoning, but was packed with soft shell crab. The miso had a pretty strong amount of miso paste flavor in it.As an Asian who lived in the coastal cities with access to pretty amazing sushi before living in OKC, I was pretty impressed with this small individual owned sushi restaurant.The owner was pleasant and the amount of actual fish in each roll was substantial.There are a few other sushi places in town that are pretty good, but if you are in this area of town, I was actually pleasantly surprised by the authenticity of the sushi from a place called Shawn's Sushi.

Cute, quaint little place with delicious food! We got bubble tea, egg rolls and sushi/sashimi; all were yummy! My only complaints concern the sashimi and Cajun roll; there were a couple sashimi pieces that still had scale/bone and there was still some crunchy shell on the crawfish in the Cajun sushi roll. Aside from these small issues, everything was amazing. Would definitely return for more!

Super bland, dry, flavorless rolls. Literally the most boring rolls I've ever tasted. Sad

We're big fans of Shawn's. It's a great little neighborhood sushi place. The prices are very reasonable--it's all about the food not overly showy ambience. When you dine at most sushi places you'll likely be paying extra for a trendy vibe. Shawn's is really hard to beat for the price to quality ratio. If you want decent sushi for a good value that's not over-the-top fancy, this is the place for you. The service is always fast too. I often call in my orders and pick them up before going to work, and Shawn will have it rolled up ready in a flash and on time. Sometimes, I'll call in a large order for all my coworkers and the sushi is a big hit with all of them. The ingredients are quality, fresh, never cheap or fake. Check it out and put it on your regular rotation!

We ordered take out due to the virus and it was quick and easy! Loved the sushi! It was in a take out box but I put it on my plate for a picture haha I forgot what I had ordered but the sushi was great!

Small, family operated. Amazing, fresh sushi. Great menu, very clean. It's a go to spot for us!

If I based my review for this place solely on atmosphere, I'd give it less stars, but they have food. I heard this place was good, but to me it was just alright. The rolls were just ok, I guess. We got a pink lady, spicy cowboy, lady love, and the spider roll. I couldn't taste any lemon in the lady love and the spider roll was awful. If you're wanting to try sushi for the first time, this isn't the best place to go. It's cheaper than most sushi places and Shawn, the owner, is super sweet, but there's absolutely no atmosphere. Shawn was also the only person working there, which tells me they aren't that busy usually and that means the food probably isn't fresh. I won't be coming back here.
