Rooster's

Was in town and my step dad really wanted some food from here so I went and got it. Now mind you, I have never had the food before, so for me, everything that I had was good. They even had a nice little build your own salad bar that was well kept and one of the servers was even kind enough to give me a beer on the house after I told her about the drive I had to OK. I greatly appreciate the manager here. My step dad had some issue with the food and she was very willing to accommodate a replacement and even gave cash back to resolve it. Nice people, great atmosphere, and good food. That's a win all day in my book.

MY grandparents live in Hennessey, and I don't see them often. However, on this last visit with them, we all decided to go to Rooster's (they go quite a bit). I'm a vegetarian, and the menu had many items that were meatless to choose from. That night, I had the breaded mushrooms and the salad bar. Both were fantastic. They use shredded lettuce for their salad bar, and I prefer it to regular cut/ripped lettuce. They also had plenty of toppings to choose from. The breaded mushrooms were fantastic! The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, and prompt with service. I will most certainly go back to this place when I visit my grandparents again. It's a win!

I love all the choices on the menu. The French fries and onion rings were great. After ordering a whole fried chicken ate Eischens and a whole fried chicken at roosters the next night to compare I choose Eischens. It had more flavor and moisture. The roosters was dry and tough however with all the sides the meal was excellent. The service was outstanding and the restaurant is homey and decorated nice.

This is a quaint low key but high quality bar and restaurant just south of hennessey. It's got some of the best fried chicken you can find with a crust that is flavorful and crunchy with minimal grease. If you want a change of pace from traditional dining to a more family style fried smorgasbord come check this place out. The staff are friendly, the prices are good, and the food will hit the spot!

We stopped in while visiting from nearby Oklahoma City; my friend Phil Roder (a native of Hennessey) had told us about this place.Yes, the chicken here is very good, and yes, it's served pretty much as it's served at Eischen's Bar over in nearby Okarche.(For those of you not familiar with Eischen's fried chicken, just imagine fried chicken served family style with sliced onions, two kinds of pickles, and boring old sliced white bread straight out of a bag. You eat off butcher paper, surrounded by your paper towels. (Don't expect Christofle flatware and ambient lighting, hon. Ta da. Done and done.) No, the fried chicken pretty much HAS to be good because -- let's face it -- that's what you came here for. (Admit it. You drove all the way to Hennessey and you want a good meal.)This place also offers chili pies, hamburgers, nachos, and other pub-type food just as Eischen's does, PLUS more -- a "sit down" restaurant menu. (My sister-in-law liked her pork chop dinner, for example. My brother-in-law was fond of his burger.)The table service we received was warm and friendly.The parking outside was more than ample.I wasn't fond of the loud jukebox playing, nor the use of all that Styrofoam and plastic in the dining room. (This place seems dead set against the idea of washing dishes as needed. Just like Eischen's.)Our tab averaged out (with tips we added in at the end) to about fifteen or twenty bucks a person. (Not great, no, but not bad all in all.)

So I was driving North on highway 81 today just going along minding my busy. When I came up on Roosters as I was entering Hennessy Ok. and I remembered how good that fried chicken was there. So I made a U turn and pull in. I went in and sat down order lunch. I ordered a half of fried chicken with fried okar. When it came out it was just like I remembered along with bread, onions, sweet, and dill pickles. So I picked up the first piece of chicken bit in to it and WOW it was so good. I have never had bad fried chicken at Roosters. It was hot, fresh, and juicy. It is definitely NOT dry chicken. So I will be back without a doubt. Oh yeah the service is also good.

Food was cold. People were nice, but a cold frito pie is not. May try again at night to see if it's better

Service was great, food pretty good, atmosphere was a little dark, definitely bar type setting.

I really wanted to eat some Chicken from this place. Arrived about 15 after 8 on Saturday night. Ordered and waited until 05 after 9. They never delivered our food. Drank three beers, while waiting and then left. Extremely disappointed!! I chose to drive here from out of town, because of talk from friends. I literally eat out 5 to 6 nights a week and they seem inept. Terrible. I would give zero stars if possible!
