Oh my gosh what a hidden gem! This place looks and feels like a dive but the food is top notch! I've been here a few times now and it is always so good. They've won many national awards for the food at Rendang. They have some great vegetarian options-big fan of the gorengan fried tofu appetizer and the gulai nangka, which is a deeply flavorful yellow curry dish made with jack fruit. There is a fried eggplant dish in yellow curry that is also really good but I can't remember the name. For carnivorous folks, I love love the rendang (slow cooked beef) dishes. All of the ones I've had are fire! The bakmi goreng is also super tasty, which is basically Indonesian lo mein. Service is pretty fast considering they make each meal fresh to order. Definitely check out this spot. If the idea of Indonesian food is scary, don't let it be. It's basically elevated Chinese or Thai food with some fun new flavors.

This is a don't judge a book by its cover location. It is located in a strip mall with parking. It is cute once you walk inside. We were seated right away. The server was efficient and friendly. The food is good. I enjoyed the pancake with the onion and egg, it was flaky and had good flavor. The combo plate was a great way to experiment with different items. I really enjoyed the unique flavor of the rice and crunch of the chicken wings. I would definitely come back to try some different items. The portion size is good and prices were a little higher than excepted.

Very good food! Unusual but some nice options. The place is pretty small but obviously has a group of regulars who love it.

Visited this restaurant at the recommendation of a friend. It was absolutely executional. My first time having Indonesian food. From the ginger lemonade to the main dish, we enjoyed the cozy feel of this restaurant! It was packed on a Saturday evening and there's not much seating so you may have to take your meal to go if you stop in on a weekend evening but do not miss out of this food! It was flavorful, unique and the owner was so kind. Highly recommend if you're in the Tulsa area.

Does perfection truly exist? Most of us would say "No," but if there is a restaurant that comes close to perfection, it might be Rendang. This 5-star restaurant has it all: the food, the service, and the commitment to quality. When going to Rendang, you are not just there for great food, but you are also there for a new experience. Be prepared for your taste buds to embark on an exciting adventure. Blending many indigenous cultures from thousands of populated islands of Indonesia has created some of the world's most eclectic cuisines, all assembled at Rendang. The food at Rendang not only look strikingly stunning but taste even more amazing. The attention to detail of the food is truly remarkable, from the appetizer to the main course and to the dessert. Everything was made with great care and purpose. The fried tofu has the most beautiful GOLDEN crust on the outside and white soft, silky smooth tofu on the inside. Both entrees, Nasi Gireng Rendang and Beef Rendang, are must try items at Rendang. Curry lover may enjoy the Beef Rendang more due to the rich creamy curry-based coconut milk sauce. While I, on the other hand, may enjoy the Nasi Gireng Rendang more due to its variety. Either one would be an excellent choice. While the Pisang Goreng dessert looks aesthetically pleasing, I find the plantains not ripened enough to give this fried dessert the sweetness it needed. In the end, I am indifferent to this dish. This is not to say the dessert is bad, but it just doesn't appeal to someone like me. Such a rare gem of a restaurant deserves more recognition. I would highly recommend this restaurant to all foodies, one of my top recommendations for my best Asian restaurants in Tulsa list. HOWEVER, expect the food to be different which can be good or bad. I can wholeheartedly say the difference at Rendang is not just GOOD; it is GREAT.

The food was absolutely delicious. The waiter recommended good options on what I like. They have a four level scale for spicy. I ordered a three and I definitely could've gone spicier. The food is so flavorful with every bite creamy. The meat is cooked to perfection. I literally can't wait to come back here again, and try other dishes. The portions were good for the price and I definitely got filled up just from the entrée. I wasn't even able to take two bites of the appetizer.

Nice family run restaurant with great service.Went with a large group and we had great service by two servers. All the orders were correct and came out pretty well fast considering the size of the order.I ordered the meatball broth soup which had a very nice light broth sort of like broth and their mix plate. The mix plate was good but nothing amazing or unique about it. I guess I have try one of their curries to get a real good sense of Indonesian food.

This was our first time trying Indonesian food. And not a bad place to start. This place is inconspicuously located in a strip center off the corner of 51st street and Yale road. They were also nominated as a James Beard Award finalist, for those of you foodies that know what it is. The dining room is nice and inviting. The husband and wife team that own it are very nice. The husband runs the dining room and the wife does all the cooking as the chef. The husband has great hospitality and willing to explain anything on the menu. We got our feet wet by ordering ginger lemonades (they also come in hot) and they were wonderful. We also ordered martabak Telur for an appetizer, which is a beef filled pancake filled with egg and green onions then deep fried. This was very good and left me wanting more. For the main dish we ordered the popular Bakmi Ayam Bakso which is egg noodles with chicken, mushrooms and a homemade crispy wonton. This meal also came with meatballs in beef broth soup. The soup was so flavorful and cooked to perfection. This is the kind of soup you want on a cold winter day. The main dish was flavorful and very tasty, but not so exotic to discourage you from coming here. It provided a nice entry dish into Indonesian cooking scene and one of the most popular dishes there. To round out the evening we tried the Banana Bollen with jackfruit ice cream. This is a homemade pastry with banana, chocolate, cheese, cherry and mint then topped with your choice of one of the homemade ice creams. We chose the jack fruit ice-cream and were not disappointed. This dessert hit the spot and left us wanting more. We will definitely be back as this is one of the best places we have been all year!

Wow. My first experience with Indonesian food was excellent. The menu is full of explanations, so we were able to choose lots of good items.Fried beef pastry app is tasty, love that vinegar cucumber dip with it. Beef rendang is *so* tender and delicious. Love those sauteed veg. Meatball skewer app with spicy sweet sauce was my personal favorite. The combo platter is a good option to try a lot of things. V2 was great, lots of peanut flavor. The fried plantains and mango and jackfruit ice creams are worth every calorie. Overall, everything was simply amazing and fresh. I personally do not like eggs (can't understand why anyone does) and there's eggs in basically everything, so if you also think eggs taste like garbage just ask to leave those off. The absolute only thing I would want to be different is to have more condiments. I absolutely love fried chili oils, sauces, chutneys, dips, spices, jams. Would have loved that for the rice chips. Maybe that's not as typical for this cuisine. Def would come back again and again. No wait, great service, quick delivery, clean restaurant, refreshing lack of television, good music, loved this place.
