Ray's BBQ

Nice place in Moore. Sliced brisket is my go to.Cole slaw ,just ok, not sweet or creamy. Desserts are always good !Love the sweet tea. They even have Watermelon. Good service,plenty of seating and parking.

In the late 1970's, one of Barry Switzer's stand-out defensive backs was Darrol Ray. He spent several years in the NFL with the Jets. Now he runs one of the best BBQ spots around. With locations on West Lindsay in Norman and another on South Santa Fe in Moore, they serve up consistently excellent dry rubbed ribs, lean and tender beef brisket, sausage, hot links, turkey, pulled pork and more. Sides include very tasty french fries, home made collard greens, smokehouse beans, okra, corn, cole slaw, garden salad, mac & cheese and baked potatoes. The sides are not an after thought at Ray's. We have tried most of them and all are at least good if not better. We rank the greens, fries, corn on the cob and okra as excellent. Prices are fair, servers are helpful and pleasant. The atmosphere is nice. Overall, Ray's is one of my two favorite BBQ restaurants along with Van's Pig Stand.

Overall, the food tasted great, and is a viable option if you are in the mood for barbecue. We placed an order to go and it was ready on time whenever I arrived. Cashier was very helpful and service was quick. The dry rub ribs were fall off the bone tender and were good, very well seasoned. I forgot to take a picture for this review, as I enjoyed them so much. French fries were really good as well. Although I got my order to go, the interior was clean and would be a good place for small group, gatherings, or a family night out. There is ample parking and it is right off Santa Fe.

Cannot say enough great things about my first visit! So enter a string of huzzahs and accolades yourself because I'm not writing a novel. I wanted some smokehouse and Ray's popped up on my map. A little out of the way from where I was at the time but I was going to drive just as far in another direction so why not. It was a great choice. When parking is hard to find you just know you've found a good spot to eat.My pick was the rib feast and included a full rack of some of the tastiest ribs I've had in the metro, a pint of mac & cheese, a pint of collards, and I added a pint of smokehouse beans extra because I wanted to try them. The BBQ sauce was just as good as the ribs so they get high marks for that. The service was fast and courteous. I was a bit shocked at how fast considering it was dinner time on a Friday but these folks made it pop! The restaurant is clean and bright inside and the next time I may come to stay instead of doing a grab and go. A plus for all of the food. A caveat, if you're looking for baked beans the smokehouse beans here are more of a chili style with great kick and flavor. Beautiful, but just a word in case you're thinking of the calmer baked variety.

Can fat people eat here? Yes but the brisket was dry and I hate dry brisket5: yes3: maybe1: noYou will be full here but I don't like the brisket and that's what I want when I go BBQ. I would get Mac and cheese and their collard greens for sides. I would avoid the brisket as it wasn't juicy. Bologna and sausage is good but nothing to rave about.

Another BBQ place I haven't been to in a long time. Remodeled inside and pretty cool. The BBQ is good. Smoked Turkey was outstanding but the sliced brisket was a bit dry. Smoke house beans are out of this world.

Food was good Collard greens and baked beans seemed to be from a can, Mac and cheese seemed made in house, service was great, and OSU won Bedlam!!!

Excellent. So tender. Great flavor! I'm hooked!!!!! I ordered ahead and it was ready. Very kind staff. I will be back!

EVERYTHING IS OUTSTANDING! I honestly don't understand anyone giving Ray's less than 5 STARS. I love their ribs, and I am not a rib person. The Mac-n-cheese, beans, and okra are fantastic as well. The watermelon tea is so good and perfect with half-regular tea. We eat here every Sunday after church, and it never disappoints. This is our go-to for consistently great BBQ.
