Date of Check in 4/14/23We usually get pastries from the Pancho Anaya Bakery on Garnett just south of Admiral Pl. but today, I had to coerce my wife into trying Yang's which is conveniently just across the street. The bribe was huaraches for Saturday morning breakfast. After trying just about everything the bakery has, the winner is the superb cinnamon and sugar huaraches. These thin flakey pastry miracles are habit forming. They make Saturday mornings perfect. When you pick yours, look for the ones that have the most caramelized, glassy looking back side. They are the best. Get a pound of Pancho Anaya Bakery's coffee. Brewed up fresh, it is the perfect accompaniment to the best huarache in Tulsa.

Love this bakery for so many reasons. When you check in on Yelp, you get a free cafe de olla (a coffee), and you don't even have to buy anything. I felt bad for not buying anything so I got a flan for about $3.50. Pancho Anaya Bakery has so many baked goods that you could get on the counter. Those usually run from $0.50 and up but things like cookies and churros are like a buck each. It's really bargain prices. Apparently, not many Yelpers come here and use the free coffee check in. The manager had to call the boss to find out what was going on but I got it at the end. The sweet deal just got sweeter, with caramel on top sweetness.

I am going to say for two gringos who LOVE Hispanic Pantries they had a good selection. Also being non traditional shoppers please take our review with a grain of salt because honestly this was highly recommended by a few locals. The cinnamon swirl crunchy flaky layer pastry was a yes, any of the cookies a yes and the shortening pastries were yum. Churros we're ok but we are spoiled with several Hispanic bakeries in our home town where the churros are hot all day. I do not know if it is me but churros are just better warm from the oven. (SPOILED HERE) Pineapple and raspberry filling is a full YUM! If you need a late lunch/snack do stop in worth the stop:Also the attendant was nice and the place was super clean. Parking lot a little rough with pot holes.

Best Mexican bakery in Tulsa. Love the yummy smells of bread as I walk in the door. This location is their biggest one, I wonder if they rent the space out for events. They have a huge seating area. In case you've never been before, you just take one of their trays located by the entrance and a tong and grab anything you might like from the displays. Walk over to the counter and they'll ring you up as they bag everything. The variety of items is pretty impressive. They have white bread (bolillos, cuernitos, pan frances) and sweet bread (almejas, barquillos, bombones, cacahuates, canastas, cochinitos, churros, danes azucarados, donas, empanadas, emparedados, galletas de gragea, gaznates, girasoles, mantecadas, moños, orejas, triangulos de polvorones, conchas). If you're not familiar with Mexican bread that list probably means nothing to you but for someone that might be homesick, this means the world every once in a while. I wish they had labels for their bread but it might be hard to maintain since they switch out what they bake regularly. You'll be able to get entire bags full of good stuff for a ridiculously cheap price. Their cakes are pretty legit too (choco-flan and tres leches). Pretty reasonable prices for them as well. I love that you don't have to buy an entire cake to satisfy a sweet craving. You can try their single cups or slices. Employees are always super nice and even let you know when the next batch of bread is coming out so you'll take it home warm. They seem to really enjoy working there and they have fun (check out their facebook videos). I always see the same people so low turnover...must be a good sign of good management. I wish they had wheat bread (specifically wheat conchas) but I'll take what I can get. They also have Mexican candy by the register as well as an assortment of Mexican products (including dairy products) towards the front. This is where my Mexican cravings come to die.

I love going to the Mexican bakery when I'm in the neighborhood. The thing I love besides the breads are that the pastries are never overly sweet and you can pick your own items. It's been awhile since I've been in here and decided to stop by since I was next door at the goodwill. This bakery used to be in the front of the same building but has moved to the side of the same building to accommodate a need for a bigger kitchen. There is plenty of parking space available outside and a nice little seating area right outside the front doors under a covered patio. The inside of this place is HUGE!! As soon as you walk in the front doors you are looking at a large area that has several places to sit to enjoy your newly purchased items. The bakery itself is directly to the right of the seating area. The way this works is you go to a table in the middle of the bakery, you pick up a tray and some tongs and then go around to the shelves located around the bakery and pick out your own items. Then you bring your tray to the checkout counter and check out. It's been awhile so I took some time to look at what they had to offer and see if there were any new items I hadn't seen before. When all was said and done I ended up getting a churro, a piece of cake and a cream horn. I was also able to redeem a Yelp check in coupon for a free coffee which went nicely with my pastries. There are several of these named brand bakeries around town. As I was checking out the girl at the register was telling me about another one of their bakeries they have located out on Peoria. She said that location is bigger and that it has a doughnut bar inside. Now that may be worth checking out one day if I find myself on that side of town. Anyways, these bakeries always seem to be clean, the employees are friendly, and beside having fresh bread and bakery items available they sell a small amount of Mexican grocery items, popsicles, candies and toys. I believe you can also order cakes to be made as well.
