Looking inside part of the drug store.
Here is the entrance sign to the old drug store.
Whew...how about an old wheel chair?
What? Only 5 cents. The original cokes had....well lets just say it got you addicted to drinking it.
Interesting
Yum and only 16 cents. Talk about a cheap date.
The fountain area. Ice cream soda anyone?

Working in the pharmaceutical industry, I knew that I had to stop and check out this small drug store museum. It is housed in an old drug store and is fairly small, but it is jam packed with artifacts. You could spend a long time if you were wanting to explore all the antique bottles of medicine, elixirs and snake oils. Lots of other items from the frontier days also. A neat way to spend some time if you wander through Guthrie.

This museum is a treasure trove of antique pharmaceuticals from our great grandparents and grandparents time. Walk back in time and visit an old fashioned soda fountain. See all kinds of potions and remedies (the medicine is still in the bottles). If you are antiquing in Guthrie, you will NOT be disappointed if you stop in here to see this marvelous time capsule of life in the early 1900s. Oh, did I mention it is all FREE! IMO, it would be worth the drive to Guthrie to just see this amazing little place.

The Oklahoma Frontier Drugstore Museum houses an amazing collection of turn-of-the-century medicines, tonics, pills, advertisements, prescriptions and an authentic soda fountain. Mark Ekiss, the proprietor can provide a wealth of information on the collection and its history. While we were there he gave a talk for a class from a Tulsa nursing school. We were especially lucky to be there for that.

What an interesting look into the past. The woman to greet me was very friendly. I didn't have much time, so I just sort of skimmed over things, but I easily could've spent quite some time going over all the old medicine bottles. But good to know that morphine and alcohol pretty much cures all.

We were very surprised with this museum. Number one Pam who greeted us said come on in and look around you can go behind the counters and left us to look at the incredible collection of just about anything from the past you can think of. The collection of old medicines and equipment used by the doctors and dentist of the early pioneer days makes you happy the way medicine is now. For any history buff this is a place not to miss. Pam was readily available (but did not hover over us) to answer our questions and point out some very interesting things such as an old prescription for cocaine or a recipe that called to use heroin. The bottles of tonics and pills is amazing. The soda fountain was fun to stand behind and see what it really looked like. Plus they allow you take pictures!

My grandma owns it, and I absolutely love it! The charming little greeter girl, and the helpful staff. The gift shop has old-fashioned root beer!!! They also will answer your questions. (Pam knows the place like the back of her hand!) Also, the admission is not strongly enforced. A definite must for a good blast from the past.

Wow! Would you like to see what the old drug stores use to look like? It is full of brands that are long gone. Equipment that was use way back when. There are literally thousands of things that are there. Do you remember when drug stores also had soda fountains? Well there is one inside also with all the old style mixers. The woman who was there had so many stories about so many things, we could of spent an extra hour just listening to her stories. When you get done here, walk around the town. The town has been revitalized and you can't believe how clean it is. Even if a business is not in a store front, it is clean. Plenty of room on side streets to park RV's. Coffee shops, ice cream places and quite a few restaurants. I bet you'll find something good there to buy.
