My family and I were visiting Oklahoma City over the holidays. We had an agenda, and the Oklahoma Firefighter's museum was one of the museums that we wanted to see! It's near the OKC Zoo and the Science Museum area. Plenty of parking is available as well! The Oklahoma Firefighters Museum was established in 1967. The museum provides a comprehensive review of the history of firefighting the state of Oklahoma. You'll see a wide range of artifacts, equipment, and memorabilia. One of the coolest features of the museum is all of the different vintage fire apparatus, historic fire engines, hose carts, and other specialized vehicles used by firefighters throughout different eras In the second room, you'll see walls with all of the different firefighter badges throughout the United States. My family and I actually found Las Vegas and North Las Vegas firefighter badges, which was super cool! There is a playroom inside the museum with books and activities. Outside of the museum is a wooden playground area. It was relatively cold out, around 40 degrees, so my daughter opted not to stay outside and play. This was a great experience, though. Tickets are $5.00 for adults and $2.00 for children between 6-12. My daughter was provided a questionnaire from the team member at the museum. She was able to track down all the answers and got a sticker! It was a super fun activity for her. We spent a few hours inside the museum. It's a wonderful museum!

This review is long overdue. Established in 1967, this firefighter museum boasts artifacts from the London Fire Brigade and a dozen fully restored firetrucks. Among its attractions is a captivating wall adorned with over 7000 fire patches collected from various locations. We were so impressed that we even brought along a couple of patches to contribute to their collection. Our visit was thoroughly enjoyable, and we spent a considerable amount of time exploring the exhibits. We highly recommend it, especially for families with children who are sure to love it too. The admission prices are family-friendly: adults are six dollars, seniors are five dollars, children aged 6 to 12 are three dollars, and children under three enter for free--truly unbeatable value. We're eagerly looking forward to our next visit.Make sure to check out their little store with merchandise. We left with a bag full.4/13/24

Had a day off with the kids, took the 10yo, 9yo and 5yo o the museum. It's a smaller museum but is done so well. You can see equipment from 1800s till now. They show the horse drawn carriages, have great explanations of everything and helpful staff to answer questions and tell great stories. One of the rooms is full of trucks for the kids and adults to ooooh and ahhhh over. Also includes evolution of fire extinguishers, plus hats, badges and patches from all over. They have a small store area and a kids play area with crayons, toys and Lego. Would highly recommend.

This is a very small museum so just come expecting that however there is a ton of history! The evolution of the fire vehicles are incredible! So much history and information on the walls and then outside they have fire truck that you can climb on and the play area for the kids so it made for a fun couple of hours

I never would have thought to come here until I had kids that loved anything to do with trucks, especially fire trucks. This is a fairly small museum but enjoyable. They have history in the evolution of firefighting and many different examples of old fire trucks from around Oklahoma. There is a small corner that has kids toys and coloring pages. Would be a great place to donate any old firefighter toys! The staff was extremely nice. There is a playground outside, unfortunately it was too cold for us to spend too much time there. On sunnier warmer days there is a covered area with picnic tables. Overall, an enjoyable place to spend the morning at.

Do you enjoy the thrill of learning Oklahoma history? Specifically Firefighter history in the Sooner state? Or do you need a place to host a birthday party? If so, then the Oklahoma Firefighter museum is a must visit! My friend recently rented out the museum to host and celebrate his son's first birthday. Our party of 30 adults and children roamed the museum in-between the celebration. We were allowed to bring our own food, drinks (non-alcoholic) and games. The museum staff provided plenty of chairs and tables. They even supplied trash bags for our mess. We were also pulled up our truck to the rear entrance to seamlessly pack everything.Afterward leaving the museum the kids enjoyed the playground on the museum grounds and destroyed the birthday pinata. For those seeking to visit the museum for non-birthday celebrations the admission costs are as follows:Adults $5.00Seniors (55 and above) $4.00Child (Age 6 to 12) $2.00Children under age 6 are FREE!!Oklahoma Firefighters and their families are also FREE!DISCOUNTS to out-of-state firefighters (families not included), military members and groups of 10 people or more.Given the history and friendly customer service its safe to say the Oklahoma Firefighter museum is a hidden gem often overlooked by the zoo, Remington park, and omni-plex.

Extremely small exhibit area. I thought I was looking at maybe 1/4 of it and was totally done. For six bucks (current adult ticket price as of September 2015), I felt it was all right but if the price were any higher I would call it exorbitant. A little freaky to read about the last OKC fire horses and then see them (obviously taxidermied) right there in the museum. Very neat overall. I think anyone who is interested in firefighting or especially old vehicles would love to check this place out. My husband had a blast examining the old fire engines (they have quite a lot here). I would not recommend going far out of your way to check this place out but it's not bad if you are already in the area seeing other museums. Couldn't quite decide on a rating but overall I think 4 stars is warranted.

Fantastic Museum that covers the history of the firefighters of OklahomaThe greatest part of this museum is the amount of vehicles that are on the premises. This museum is not overly fancy, but it covers the history of the firefighters in Oklahoma, and it does a great job. $5 to get in and that covers the audio tour as well. The mural on the main wall is awesome, and there is a lot of old fashioned fire fighting equipment. I would think a small child would be in 7th heaven going through this museum. If you have nothing to do, or have kids stop by this great museum.
