Oak Tree Books has rolling ladders around their book cases. It's really, really difficult for me not to channel my inner Belle from Beauty and the Beast to jump on and slide around. This space is a nook of older and first edition books, but not a great spot to find newer used reads. Most of the books are about Oklahoma and Native Americans. There are some smaller sections of science fiction, literature & classic children's books.Inside is well organized but you still feel like an explorer. I'm going to go back as Belle and find the rose behind a book.

The most organized used book store in town. You can find a $250 first edition shelved among dog-eared pop-lit paperbacks.

I have really mixed feelings about this bookstore.... On one hand there's a lot of rare books that I've never seen at other used bookstores, even in much larger cities. The guy that owns the place is pretty nice and seems to know the business. I also love giving my business to locally owned used bookstores. On the other hand a lot (if not most) of the books are WAY WAY WAY overpriced. And I'm not talking about the rare first edition stuff. I'm talking about just run of the mill crap you find in any used bookstore. You know, stuff that anywhere else might cost $2-$4 would cost $10-$15 at Oak Tree. So, I don't know.... I would only recommend this place if you're a collector of rare and/or first edition books, or if there's some book you absolutely have to have but can't find it anywhere else.I only wish this place were cheaper, because, as I said, I like supporting local businesses, but it's just too expensive for the average reader....
