We stopped at their food truck at an event recently, had a Turtle Cheesecake cupcake..WOW! The swirls of buttercream was a mini mountain of goodness..Very sweet, creamy, homemade, not an exact cheesecake flavor but very tasty and complex to my sweet tooth. Cake itself was nothing special, kind of dry since it had been stored in refrigeration. Obviously the cake is only the supporting cast, while the frosting is the star. Now that may or may not be your thing. I surely couldn't eat much of this super sweetness. And while I usually prefer more of a balanced cupcake, I enjoyed mine. Very much so. Looking forward to trying more.

I agree with previous comments about the average/poor quality of the cupcakes. Definitely not better than something you could buy from the store or make at home (not even as good in my opinion). Walking in, my family and I noticed that the store was unclean (dirty floors), although cutely decorated. The girl who (kind of) greeted us was very unapproachable, awkward, unfriendly, and non-genuine. Icing was way too sweet and did not taste homemade--definitely had an artificial taste. The turtle cheesecake cupcake was dry and didn't even taste like it had a cheesecake frosting. We also tried the banana cream pie and lemon cupcakes which were just okay. We just wanted to support a local business but they didn't seem happy to have or help their customers. Sorry to say we won't be returning.

Serving the most unusual combinations of cupcakes. I purchase them as executive gifts. These aren't your run-of-the-mill bake sale cupcakes. Gourmet doesn't come close to describing them. I purchased 1.5 dozen yesterday to give as surprise gifts. The recipients were speechless with delight.

A friend of mine had been telling me to come try this place for awhile now and after finding Cupcakes By Lu on 81st and Harvard I wasn't sure about trying anyone else again. My daughter and I happen to be in the area so we decided to give them a try. We ordered the peanut butter cupcake, the cinnamon roll cupcake and the turtle one. The cupcakes are decorated nicely and are very pretty. The cinnamon roll had a nice flavor but the cake was very heavy and the icing...WAY to much and WAY to sweet! The peanut butter one had a peanut butter cup baked in the bottom (nice touch) and a good peanut butter flavor in the icing but again, very heavy and very sweet. The turtle was good but again..the frosting. If I remember reading correctly on their website these are doctored up cake mixes with some flair. They have the right concept but unless you like VERY sweet, cream cheese frosting piled high on a dense cupcake then this won't be your place. I wanted to like it but a normal person will probably be able to only eat one cupcake, won't finish the icing and will have to have something to drink or you'll have the cake stuck in your throat. I will have to stick with my Cupcakes By Lu on 81st and Harvard where the cake is moist and airy and the frosting is light as a feather and slightly sweet.(reminds me of whip cream) I can honestly sit down and eat 3 of her cupcakes at one sitting and want more. They are melt in your mouth good!!! Sorry Not Your Grandmothers Cupcakes iI wanted to like you but I'll have to pass.

I LOVE cupcakes, so I really wanted to love this place. After walking in, you're immediately hit with the deliciously sweet smell of icing. The cupcakes are all adorably decorated, which made it hard to choose. We finally decided, but on the way home, the cupcakes started to melt (we live less than 5 miles away from the store, so if you're taking home cupcakes, you may want to keep that in mind)!! We get home and immediately start digging into the cupcakes. Sadly, the first bite I had of the cupcake included a piece of plastic. It looked like a corner of the plastic bags ready-to-make cake mixes are in, which makes me wonder if they even make these cupcakes from scratch....

I got two cupcakes: Cha-Cha-Cherry Cheesecake & Save Second Base. The cherry cheesecake is pretty self-explanatory. The filling in the middle of the cupcake was a plus. The Save Second Base was very good! Strawberry cupcake, strawberry frosting, strawberry filling, just, STRAWBERRY everything! A piece of candy on top as well. & for the record, I went to their food truck that was located Downtown Tulsa, not at the store in Broken Arrow. Maybe I need to go to the store to try their Maple Bacon cupcake!

I love Gluten Free cupcakes on Thursdays! They are always delicious and stored in a separate fridge. The staff is always friendly, and they go out of their way to talk to my son and make him feel special.

These are kept cold which make them very dry. I've tried them several times to see if maybe they just weren't fresh that day, but they are always the same. Also, they have way too much icing. The flavors are good and they look pretty though. The mini cupcakes are better- not nearly as dry.

I don't understand why the most recent reviews are three years old!I love the cupcakes and cookie sandwiches they make. Contrary to some of the lower-rated comments, I think the frostings, fillings and batter are very well made. Delicious! They have different specials for each day of the week, which is nice for me, because I'm a cheapskate...4 stars instead of 5 because their everyday non-daily-special prices are just a little high. However, remember their cupcakes are FILLED, while most other bakeries do not make filled cupcakes.(In fact, I think they should advertise that, or at least add the words cream-filled to the signs/descriptions).
