My children attended Miss Helen's for six years. Their elementary curriculum was a great foundation for middle school. It's not just a school though, it's a family of professionals that truly cares about the well being of each child. As a parent, it was a great comfort to know my children were safe and were in an exceptional learning environment. My children have very fond memories of their teachers and time there. Overall, it was a great experience, and we wouldn't hesitate to do it all over again.

I've got two kids in college now, and if u ask them some of their favorite school memories the majority of them come from attending MHPS. They'll always be my first suggestion to anyone looking into a private school! I'd give 6stars if I could!

Monday, August 15th, was my daughters first day at Miss Helen's Private School in Tulsa, OK. When you drop off and pick up from Miss Helens they do not allow you to come in. So I was told to call as I was exiting the highway each day to let them know I was almost there and someone would meet me at the front door with my daughter. From day one, no one checked my ID to make sure I was my daughters mom or if I was anyone on her approved pick up list. The person at the door at drop off is not the same person at pickup so there's no way they know who I am. They just bring the kid to the door and send them out. On my daughters third and final day there, they sent out the wrong little girl for me to take home. I know this little girl is in my daughters class because we saw her at meet the teacher. She has curly hair the same color as my daughters so I know they think this little girl is mine. As the pick up lady (Rhonda) is opening the door letting this little girl out she says with an attitude, "you can just call when you get here because it's a little hard to know what's going on here when you're on the highway, isn't it?", As she says this I'm realizing that she thinks this little girl is My daughter! So I said "for Chevelle...??" She realized then that she brought me the wrong kid and says "oh you need Chevelle! Scarlett honey come here!" As Scarlett is stepping off the curb. She closes the door and comes back after a minute with Chevelle. All the while still no one checking IDs. If I was some weirdo I could've taken Scarlett home that day. I hate to even share this little girls name but I believe her parents deserve to know what happened and I hope they are reading this. The morning after this happened I emailed Jayme Wingo, the director of Miss Helens Private School to let her know that Chevelle will not be retuning until we meet with her in regards to what happened at pick up yesterday. She told me that if I'm referring to what happened with "Miss Rhonda" then I could call the school and speak with "Miss Rhonda" about it. I told Jayme that I'd like to speak with Rhonda's boss, whoever that may be. She advised me to contact the executive director, Lynda Wingo. I did and she let me know that she would be busy answering phones at the front desk from 3-5 and after some back and forth she arranged to meet with us at 530 that day along with Rhonda. Rhonda denied releasing the wrong child to me and said she knew it wasn't Chevelle. Then why did that little girl make it all the way to the curb before you said anything? Lynda said several times that she has decades of experience and Miss Helen's does everything they can to protect the children that go there. Really? Everything except the bare minimum of checking IDs? She told me they don't have enough staff members to be checking IDs. I suggested they hire someone and she told me she would love to but there is no one out there to hire. This meeting proved to us that they don't see a problem here and won't be changing anything. So we let them know Chevelle will not be returning at all. My husband asked about the money we have paid to them so far and without any hesitation Lynda said they would be refunding it. Miss Helens also posts tons of pictures of their students on their public Facebook page. They posted first day photos of every grade level. Some of the older grades were holding signs that included their name and date of birth. There are also photos of children in bathing suits. Why is this necessary? Miss Helens is doing absolutely nothing to protect the children that go there. Whose parents are paying for them to go there. Public schools are doing more to protect their students. Save your money. After I posted about this incident on my personal Facebook page, my sister in law left a review on Miss Helens Facebook, as well as a friend of mine that found it concerning they posted children's personal info. Then I left my review. Shortly after, Miss Helens turned off reviews on their Facebook page. Another friend left a comment on the group of photos including names and dates of birth, this comment was deleted. I was blocked from Miss Helens Facebook page. My original intention was to only post a review on their Facebook to inform other parents of their negligence and hopefully the other little girls parents. Instead of addressing the issue or stating how they have changed policy to fix this, they chose to try and silence me. I will not be silenced when it comes to the safety of children, especially mine. This is a sick world we live in and it's time for Miss Helens Private School to wake up.

I have two kids at Miss Helens Private School as this school year ends tomorrow. My daughter is finishing 4th grade, my son is finishing 1st grade. Both have been going to MHPS since preschool. With MHPS only going through 5th grade, we decided to transition our daughter to a different school (that goes through 8th grade) this upcoming school year. We decided to move our son as well since it made more sense for us to have them both at the same school for drop offs and pickups.Over the years, Miss Helens was a great school for us:-The small class sizes meant that my kids got a more personalized education as compared some schools with much larger class sizes. I felt like the smaller class sizes allowed us to get to know the other kids and their parents better. I know that my daughter has made friends over the years that will carry on even though they won't be at the same school any longer.-MHPS administered the Iowa state test at certain grade levels once a year, but it was for informational purposes to help the school fine tune their curriculum, help the teacher identify what difficulties that the kids were having, and as information to the parents. There wasn't any "high stakes" testing that you get in the public schools.-The tuition is very reasonable for a private school. The tuition covered early drop off (as early as around 7:15am) and late pickup (I think as late as 6pm) as well as lunch. You won't find a better price anywhere for a private school. Having these extended pickup and drop off times helped a lot since my wife and I both work.-The school director is always available by phone, text, or school messaging with anything that pops up.-More importantly, with a school this size and the smaller class sizes, the staff and teachers are like family to us. We felt like we got to know each other over the years. We are certainly going to miss seeing Mr. Gary and Miss Lynda around the school in the afternoons!-We are very glad for the years that my kids spent there. As part of the admission process at their new school, they were tested. My daughter tested at pre-honors in math for 5th grade(their highest level for 5th grade) and my son tested at a 2nd-3rd grade reading level. They both received a great education here at Miss Helens.

We've had our daughter enrolled at Miss Helen's for 3 years and have never failed to bring it up to anyone interested in options for child care or any kind. They offer classes all the way from 3 years old to elementary.Their curriculum seems pretty solid in pre-K (only direct experience I have so far). They have a standard developmental test every year for pre-K to make sure all of the normal developmental stages are coming along, but beyond just what do they teach - every student of theirs I've ever come across has always bright, polite, and interested. They manage to pack as much activity as they can into their school also. Dance is a standard feature in their preschool grades and you can add on computers or swim at any age. During the summers they have a bunch of other optional activities for sign up that has been a great way for us to sample other local activities as they partner with other providers for karate, sports, etc. during summers. Then on top of the quality their drop-off and pickup hours are pretty generous. As early as 7:30 AM and as late as 6 PM without additional fees. The staff is always just the nicest as well. Always communicative, always let us know everything we'd want to know. I think the main staff knows every kid and parent on sight and every teacher seems to at least know every kid within a few grades up or down from them at least.
