I would have to write a small novel on the good and bad of McFarlain's. The service was adequate. Hats off for Derrick filling in on a Thanksgiving week but no clue of the menu, specials and shortages of cranberry sauce, gravy and several other items. Plus we just wanted a Pecan Pie to go and it was another major hassle. Good news was that they were able to seat a large table of Ten but even the tiniest of observations would have indicated a very large ticket. So, in deference to Derricks determination to provide the best quality service possible, I tipped him heavily to thank him for taking care of us. As for McFarlain's, we will commit our patronage to another restaurant next year.

Don't waste your time or money. Messed up on our order on multiple plates, food was dry, and broccoli was hard. Service was good. But that's the only good thing.

I rarely make a negative post and I wouldn't now except for the response from the manager. I ordered eggs Benedict. My eggs were hard boiled. I told the lady the eggs were not poached and her reply was "it's just not poached the way you want it" what a crappy response. in the end, they paid for my meal so I consider us even

This is one of the BEST places in Branson, MO!! If you go you have to try the pot roast, the (sweet) cornbread, AND ask for a "special table." Magnificent!!

So the restaurant we planned to eat at turned out to be closed so we wound up at McFarlain's. They weren't very busy so we got right in and seated right away. All the staff were very friendly and efficient. The place was pretty clean and the decor was kind of Midwest meets Deep South.... On to the food. It was all pretty good. I had the McFarlain's Special Sandwich, which was an open faced pot roast sandwich with mashed potatoes and brown gravy. Others had soup and salad and meatloaf. We took a Traffic Jam pie to go, which turned out to be delicious. The four star rating may be just a bit of a stretch, really the rating is probably around 3.5 stars, but they deserved rounding up not down based on the overall experience.

My family and I went to Branson for a mini-vacation and we heard about McFarlain's so we thought we would give it a try. My very pregnant DIL, my wife, my grandson and I went into the restaurant and we were greeted right away by the hostesses and then were promptly seated. After that something seriously went wrong. We were there for 15 minutes and no one even acknowledged our existence and they seemed to be abundantly staffed because we counted at least 6 wait staff that looked at us and never even asked if we needed a drink or to see if we had ordered. So after 15 minutes, we all got up and left. On the way out the hostess was told we never were acknowledged and all she had to say was "sorry!" Not, "oh can we comp you a meal" or "how can we make it better?" Just nothing but "sorry!" Needless to say, we won't be back! If I could give it no stars...I would!

Poor food. Ice cold This is our pancakes 10 min after being served. Slow service. Eggs were done over easy not medium. We left all of our food on the plates. Horrible overall. I will say they comped our non existent meal at least.

I have visited this restaurant in Branson for many years now and I always love coming back. Their pricing is a little bit higher, but they only have one menu. I like their cornbread and chicken a lot. I usually go for one of their chicken fried steaks / chicken when I visit, but this time I tried their fish and chips. It was really good. The service today was a little slower because a large bus just showed up prior to us arriving. However despite that circumstance, our server didn't attempt to make our service any better. Even when the group left, we felt ignored as guests and had to look for her to get attention. The food was pretty good. This was an off experience

We went here before the Smoke on the Mountain show. There were 80 of us. They were ready. I had the roast beef sandwich. Really disappointed by my choice. A piece of bread cut in half with some roast beef on top and a very small scoop of mashed potatoes and some gravy. The taste was fine. The service was great. The portions were small.

This has been a favorite of ours for many years. We have almost always eaten one of their legendary specialties-the pot pie, fish, etc. These meals have always been delicious, and I am sure they still are. However, this trip we decided to have a lighter lunch so we could enjoy a piece of their pie, also. (As some of you know, it is extremely easy to overeat in Branson. )I ordered a soup and sandwich combo. The soup lived up to expectations. But the sandwich was not even mediocre. It had such a small piece of ham I had to hunt for it. This was 1/2 a sandwich , and the meat was part of a thin slice of deli ham. It had an oversized piece of lettuce and a too thickly slice of tomato. It was not even close to a poorly made homemade sandwich. It should have been almost a work of art at the price they charged. Next time we eat there, I will know not to order a sandwich.
