Food: for the price, you can't beat it. A platter with some pretty solid brisket and well smoked sausage with two sides really hot the spot. Onion wings were freshly cooked and then beans were sweet and smoky. Service: friendly and pretty attentive. Food took a little long to arrive, but we had a larger party so that makes sense.Ambiance: kind of a weird place as it's attached to a motel. However, the food more than makes up for it. Only complaint is that they had a parakeet in the lobby in a metal cage, and while I can see some people thinking that's pretty cool, it was a little sad to see.

I discovered where people eat on Monday nights in Grove! Honey Creek BBQ got busier and busier as I was seated for dinner. My server was awesome. Super attentive and had great recommendations. He told me the owners owned a different restaurant until Covid, so the menu isn't just bbq. They serve *get this* Sushi on Monday nights! Sushi at a bbq joint! I definitely will try it next time. I had to try the meats, so I got the Honey Creek pig out sandwich with a side of baked beans. It had pulled pork, smoked sausage, hot link & coleslaw! So I could sample it all. Hot link was truly spicy, which I loved. Their house sauce is a Carolina style mustardy bbq sauce, which was delicious. I tried the house made spicy bbq sauce too, and it was tasty. They sell the sauces in bottles too! The beans were full of meat too, and very flavorful. Nothing was too sweet, which I appreciate in good bbq. I had fried mushrooms as an appetizer, which were just fried from frozen. But the ranch was amazing. The interior is cozy and country cute. They even have a bar! I never saw a bar menu, so I'll ask next time. My experience was one of the best I've had eating anywhere in Grove. It's definitely a new favorite. I'll be back to try sushi, and I definitely want to try the coconut shrimp and chicken fried steak too! Oo and a very nice touch was Andes mints with the check! It's the small touches like that that impressed me so much.

3 out of 5 not due to quality of food, but setting, interior, exterior appearance and location. 5 would be interior of restaurant using cloth table cloths, quiet atmosphere, etc. 4 would be a step down from that. 3 is a BBQ/American restaurant on the end of a building shared with a much less than luxury motel...Great staff, good BBQ, and varied menu with some items carried over from when it was 'The Parrot' on the other side of Honey Creek at the marina. Just....'rustic', a step above peanuts and sawdust on the floor. We started with the homemade triangles of fried mozzerella, always delicious. For lunch we skipped the BBQ to order some of the items we miss from the old 'Parrot'. I had chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, green beans - good, average, not too heavily peppered steak, well tenderized. Our son had chicken linguini Alfredo, also good, not too oily from the cheese, served with small salad and garlic bread. My wife had fish tacos which are always good. Honey Creek BBQ (and American Restaurant) is a bit of a contradiction. The food was previously at 'The Parrot' which was lake-side, boat up or drive up to, good atmosphere inside, a real local favorite. All that was traded for a very informal restaurant on the end of a less than Motel 6 motel outside of town with no view or other reason to make the effort - yet the food is still just as good as before. If just comparing BBQ for BBQ there are other places in town equally good, with better atmosphere and location. But if you are wanting BBQ but with others who want more variety, this is the place to go.

This was by far our best meal in the Grand Lake area. We enjoyed the atmosphere. The service was fast and attentive. The place was packed but we felt well taken care of. The pulled pork on my Pig out sandwich was most and delicious. Some of the best hot links I have had. Mac and cheese was tasty and I believe it was a homemade cheese sauce. My wife enjoyed her salad. We will definitely be back.
