We needed a quick bite to eat and a few groceries - so the local Harp's was the store of choice. Dinner while we shopped led to happy kids with food for the evening's ball practice and some groceries in the fridge for the rest of the week! I will say that the hometown app, which is supposed to provide an easy way to save money while shopping at Harps is not so "easy" to use IMO. In fact, when I wanted to inquire about using the app to my customer service checker at my recent visit, her "not really interested in helping the old man," attitude didn't do much for me at all. I get that the young person probably doesn't care for the army of older shoppers that don't easily get the use of gizmos and gadgets that today's savvy, smart shoppers need to use in order to take full advantage of the discounts offered by the grocery store - but still, I would expect enough respect for the customer that a little friendly help would go a long way. I feel badly saying any of that. At least she was at work and doing a job. She should be congratulated for bothering to work! And - she did do her job and she was at least willing to speak to me and look at me as she spoke. So - all that said, for the current generation - maybe that is the win we have learned to accept? Good for me (and her) and all of us that Harp's remains "locally" owned and operated and that the checker I encountered was not my "normal" friendly, helpful checker who certainly knows my face, if not also my name. Way to go Harps! Thanks for all the good - and also - I need to learn how to use the app!
