Hanover's Meat Market

Consistent high Quality at a fair price is what I have found at Hanover's. For 20+ years I shopped at Perry's. After they closed I found out about Hanover's and am glad I did. It's best to order your meet ahead. The owner will have all ready for you when you walk in the door.

We came in 2 days ago and purchased 5 ribeye steaks. From the window, they looked great but using our tried-and-true method of cooking great steaks, they weren't anything to write home about. I'm glad I didn't serve them to guests, honestly. They were pretty bland and almost tasted as though they'd turned. I'm sad to say it, but Walmart has offered us better steaks. We might revisit to see if something else in the case is better, but chances are this will be one of our lasts visits here, I'm afraid. It's a lot of money to spend on good quality meat to get "meh". Outside of this, the shop was clean and the attendant friendly. The little comics against the meat case are really cute, as well.

This place is amazing!! I've been long wanting to find a butcher in Tulsa, and thankfully my brother and sister-in-law got me a gift card to this fine establishment. I went there knowing it would cost more than the grocery store or other establishments, but when I tell you I paid more for NY or KC strips (or my in laws did) I'll tell you it was the best strip I've ever tasted or cooked, and I'm an aspiring grill master. Other than my profession it's my major passion. The butcher simply stated his price per lb, I asked what cut he does for a strip, and he simply stated "whatever you want." So, I went with 1 1/2 inch NY Strips, and he turned, grabbed a whole strip chunk pit of his walk in fridge, and he cut and trimmed the best strips I've ever had. They were almost as tender as a filet. This is my new to go primo meat spot for celebrations, and the best meat I have ever had. I can't wait to go buy some ground sirloin on Saturday. Oh, and ignore the snowflake that got offended in the comments because this man is straight forward and will give you what you want. Clearly the negative review was because this dude had no idea what he wanted.

Perfect market! The butcher asks what you want and then cuts it in front of you. Great ribeye . I'll be back.

Walking into Hanover's is a trip back to childhood. This Cat is a Meat Cutter. Not demure, not waiting to "Serve You", or give you some rehearsed answer to a question. He knows!Perfectly trimmed, everything. Maybe one of the only places in Tulsa where you get a true Filet Mignon Cut. On Saturday's he grinds sirloin... On Saturday, you can buy it fresh. During the week, if he didn't sale out on Saturday, you can buy frozen. No, he doesn't grind it on Wednesday. And I freakin' LOVE IT!The place is awesome, timeless. He offers great sausages from Siegi's, meats, cheeses and sauces from Boarshead. If you are a carnivore, even if you're a hipster with a beard, a beard deserves awesome freakin' meat from a true meat cutter. You don't buy meat from a supermarket when you sport a beard. Hanover's wraps the meat in Butcher Paper, it packs nice in your Harley's Saddle Bags for the trip home. If you have any idea how to cook it, you will be delighted.

I have been acquainted with Hanover's since 1966 when the original owner and father of the current proprietor, David Hanover, had the business at 1818 South Cincinnati. The hallmark of Hanover's is customer satisfaction and expert skills and knowledge in meat. I would highly recommend Hanover's.

I walked in here around lunchtime last Tues Dec 22nd. I was the only person in the store. Me: Im making fajitas this weekend for 20 people. Guy behind the counter: i cant help you im closed on weekends. Me: i understand that, but, id like to buy fajita meat today and i need to know what kind of meat to use and how much. Guy behind the counter: i dont do fajita meat, i cant help you. This is all ive got (and he pointed at what was behind the glass)So i left and went to Perrys where the lady explained to me what kind of meat to buy and advised me on the amount. I go to the butcher for advice. I bought 20lbs of steak from Perry's. I guess this place doesnt need my business. Ive never been to a small businesss like that where the person running it was so uninterested in selling to customers. Don't waste your time here. Go someplace else.
