This is in a strip mall type location with lots of parking. Don't judge the book by its cover. The exterior isn't much to look at and the interior is fairly basic but the food is really good and the service is friendly and the food comes out quick. The chips and salsa were good. My steak and chorizo were excellent. I liked their guacamole as well. Everyone in our group enjoyed their food. I liked their jaimica as well. The owner was at the counter when we were paying and he was a really nice guy. The prices are good as well.

I have avoided this Mexican restaurant because the parking lot is usually packed and because of the name, Del Mar. I don't eat much Del Mar. I prefer "de la tierra," as in carne asada, pollo, carnitas and an occasional bag of spicy chicharrónes from Kum & Go. I do have one favorite though, from the seafood side of the Mexican menu, Camarones a la Diabla. Fiesta Del Mar serves the best I have had anywhere. Fresh shrimp and a real Diabla. It had heat! Red spicy fiery chili sauce. Perfect. Next time it will be the fish tacos. My wife had the Wet Burrito, Steak with salsa Verde. Look at the picture. It is beautiful. The burrito was as tasty as it looked. Filled with beef and covered in a tangy green sauce. Communication with the staff was a little rough, but it worked out. I believe the waitress was a little concerned or in disbelief, when this old gringo ordered the Camarones a la Diabla and the salsa picante for the chips. The restaurant is small. Getting a table could be a challenge at peak dining hours. Not much English spoken here and very few gringos. The service is friendly and fast. Table service with complementary chips and salsa. This restaurant is certainly an overlooked gem by me. 21st and Garnett is the epicenter of little Mexico. I would bet you that there are more Mexican restaurants withing a ¼ mile radius of this intersection than any other area Tulsa. I have dined at most of them. The two that I would pick as the top contenders are Doña Gloria's Restaurant (across the street N side of 21st) and this one, Fiesta Del Mar. Two excellent restaurants.

Fiesta Del Mar - Mexican 21st & Garnett(Behind Burger King)A couple of unique menu items will definitely have me coming back! I'd describe this place as: Authentic, Affordable, Unique, Homemade, and Tasty! It checks all the boxes for me. If you're tired of Tex/Mex and just want the Mex without the Tex, this is the place. Their Gordita's and Tortas of Carnitas are a must try. Tortas of Carnitas: I got the marinated pork on this sandwich-like item and it's going to bring me back again. I've never had anything like it. The bread was homemade and absolutely fresh. It came with jalapeños on the side and French fries. Gorditas: Spouse ordered Gorditas and it will also bring us back. On the outside was a flat fried cornbread (but not exactly cornbread...hard to describe). I could eat a stack of these fried cornbread-like tortillas. Very unique and fresh. The inside can be filled with different options. Enchiladas:I also got the enchiladas, and although they were really good, you can get enchiladas like these at other places. So, since this is a longer trip for me, I'm going to stick with their more unique items. Guacamole: Guacamole was really good and I'm kind of picky about Guacamole. I'm not a big fan of it. But again, theirs is really good. Chips and Salsa: I didn't care for their chips. While they were homemade, I guess I like the more packaged kind. My wife loved them however. Salsa was really good, but I prefer my salsa at room temperature instead of refrigerated. In summary: Service: Good, fast, sit down or carry outParking: Excellent Food: Excellent Price: Affordable Atmosphere: Casual Menu: Large and diverse. You'll see tongue, tripe stew, etc., in addition to all the more usual items you'd find at a Mexican restaurant.

This is one of Tulsa hidden gems, the family that owns this place treats my family with the utmost respect. They make us special items almost every time we come in, they are the most genuine people you will ever meet. I am so lucky to have found this spot years ago, and my family has grown to love coming here and catching up as we do the food. You feel at home, the best food is served with love and they have delicious drinks with real sugar. I have never had anything that didn't want me wishing I hadn't waited so long to come back. The huaraches, and wet burritos are some of my faves. The Gordita we got this time had home made blue corn and I can hardly wait to come back to get more... please don't pass this by and go check it out now...
