FamilySAFE invented the first above ground steel tornado shelter (which also acts as a safe room) that has withstood many EF4-5 tornadoes without failure, and that sold me on this company. I also like that the shelters are breathable and still have natural light show through. Do your research! Additionally, the customer service is impeccable. I emailed them on a Saturday afternoon, received information on Sunday, and met with the owner at his Owasso showroom a couple of days later to look at popular sizes of shelters. I reviewed photos of these shelters that were the only things still standing in the worst tornadoes in Oklahoma history and learned a lot from the owner (inventor). He even came to our house in Bixby to measure and help me decide on a size. Once I placed an order, the shelter was ready 10 days later, and installation only took 30 minutes. The shelter fits well in my garage without affecting parking spaces. You can even have a shelter built into an indoor wall with new construction homes if planned ahead. I have complete peace of mind with my shelter due to this company's history and credibility!
