I've eaten El V's many times over the last several years of working in Jay. They have super fast service, so it's perfect for lunch. They offer daily specials. I had dinner tonight with a coworker, and it was great. Nice and warm inside. I tried the Al pastor tacos for the first time, and wow! They were so so good. Lots of delicious pineapple on top! And the spicy salsa is delicious. We never got drink refills though.

Hard to recommend this restaurant. I have only eaten here twice. The first time I ate there the food was great. The second time the food was horrible. The service was good both times. Try at your own risk.

Fajitas are a go to along with the black bowl! Taco carne asada is also good. Much better than the Grove location which is now by cheapo depot.

Food was somewhat bland. Nice portions. Service was lacking. They did seem to have a decent crowd, however it could be a little faster in the service part.

A really nice place to stop when you are in the area.Always found the staff to be pleasant, they stay on top of your table and make sure your cups are filled as well as the complimentary salsa and chips. Always smiling and eager to please. In regards to overall cleanliness it is ok, though I will ding them a few points on the bathrooms upon occasion.I have had many of their dishes over time and one of my favorites has to be the Camarones al Mojo de Ajo. Out of all of the times I have had that dish there was only one time when the dish had far too much garlic, which is saying a lot because I love my garlic. I pity the vampire ever trying to get a quick snack off of me!Chimichanga de Camaron is good as well, for those liking the chicken dishes you may want to try their Burrito Jalisco or Pollo Ranchero. Can't go wrong with their Carne Asada or Chile Verde.Tortilla soup will hit the spot, their shrimp cocktails are good too. Their refried beans I believe are made from scratch if I remember correctly, I had asked them a long time ago, they have a good taste and consistency to them.In summary I would have to say there is value for the money spent. Are there flashier Mexican restaurants out there? Sure there are, but all in all I really think you get a decent value for the money spent. They are worth stopping by and giving a try when you are in the area.

Mexican food in Jay, OK, it was about as good as I could have expected... untrained cooks preparing food with no care, passion, or concern. But, I will confess that the margarita was pretty dang good. Get excited about the drinks but keep your expectations on the food very low.

Very good Tex-Mex. Not authentic but like most good in the Tex-Mex food. Service once was very slow and hateful but that changed. Great service today.

We are new in the area. Have gradually been trying the restaurants in town. We did take out. This one was terrible. Chips and salsa. Salsa watery, chips greasy. Hubby had the seafood fajitas. It was like a soup. No way you could get it in the tortillas....which were stuck together and hard around the edges. I had the Taquitos Mexicana. Didn't look much like taquitos. Flour tortillas...not crisp corn ones...and not crisp...floating in sour cream. No guacamole in sight. SO..we won't be going back.

Always enjoy our meals at El Vallarta! Their sangria margaritas are delicious and I definitely recommend! We've never had a bad meal, but be sure to read the menu and ask questions. Sometimes the menu item does not come the way you would expect. Unless it says that it comes with rice and beans, it will not! Salsa and homemade chips are kept flowing, but don't fill up on those, however, that is my usual mistake and I end up taking 1/2 my meal home! If you are a transplanted Californian and used to good Mexican food, I totally recommend this restaurant.
