El Potosino

The food was good definitely different from what I'm used to as they cook certain things differently from my Mexican home state but it was still yummy. The place was packed and took a while to find parking and get seated but they had us in and out fairly quickly.

I went over the weekend during lunch time and it was very busy. We had to wait for a table and had to give our number so they could call us when a spot opened up. The wait time was maybe around 10 minutes so not bad. The tortillas were delicious but I just wasn't a fan of the taste of the salsas provided with the chips and I also didn't like the taste of my menudo. Something just felt off to me, but with how popular the place was maybe it was just the specific dish I ordered. Service was really good and we constantly had someone stopping by to see if there was anything else we needed.

Great spot! Quick to sit you down and get you taken care of. Got the guisado rojo and the guisado verde everything had great flavor, the chips and salsa were also very good! Tortillas were freshly made!

I've only had breakfast at Potosino but I've had it more than once it is so good. This place can get crowded and parking isn't the best, you'll likely have to park on a neighborhood street if you go during a busy time. But, it's worth the wait and slight parking difficulty, so don't let the time waiting deter you.The salsas are gratis and run on the hotter side compared to most free salsas at Mexican places. You might want to try first if you have kids or people that are sensitive to spicy food with you. Every time I have gotten the standard breakfast which comes with eggs, your choice of meat, beans, potatoes, and your choice of tortillas. Everything is made homemade and is very hot when delivered to you. Like I said, this is not fancy, it's basic but prepared really well. The bites with tortilla, salsa, and various components of the breakfast are fantastic. I want to try lunch one day, but to be honest, if I am near there and they are serving breakfast, I'm getting breakfast. Don't pass this place by, it may not be much to look at from the outside but it's more than worth a stop.

El Potosino is an all-time favorite for breakfast on the weekend or lunch on-the-go. EVERYTHING is home-style cooked and the attention from the staff makes it feel like a home. My favorites:*Machaca (shredded beef, scrambled eggs, sautéed peppers and onions), beans with cheese, and home style potatoes.*Carne asada burrito with beans and cheese.*Salsa verde chilaquiles topped with a fried egg.*Chicharrón gorditas (fried pork rinds) in salsa verde. *Atole (traditional Mexican cornmeal hot drink).* Handmade corn tortillas.*Garden salsa and red pepper salsa.

Discovered this gem in October when my mom was in town and we happened to be in the Capitol Hill area around lunch time, so popped in at the suggestion of Yelp!Don't judge, but we were really hungry and ordered a large number of menu items. We ordered the pozole, a quesadilla, a few different tacos, a couple of gorditas, their barbacoa dish, a torta and their fresh guacamole and while there were definitely some stand out items, all of it was fantastic and I would order again (well, maybe not the pozole, but that's only because I don't like anyone's pozole). My favorite were the gorditas as they were these delicious fried pockets of dough with really tasty fillings! The owner waited on us and gave us all of his best suggestions and he did not steer us wrong!As others have mentioned, make sure you bring cash. They do take credit cards, but on this day they were without internet due to the freakish October ice storm so cash was the only option.

This place restaurant never disappoints. My family and I always look forward to ordering Gorditas on a Sunday Morning
