El Fogon

They have the best salsa ever! I'll come here just to get salsa to-go. I get their tacos everytime but I'm going to have to start trying the burritos because my husband's burritos always look amazing and he finishes the whole thing.

Nice, fresh salsas & good chips. Queso is a little boring & bland, but melted cheese is melted cheese, so how bad could it be?The Carne Asada was good. it could have been seasoned a little more, but it was very tender & juicy. The plate was quite short on pico de gallo & guacamole to fill tortillas provided though.The Trio Enchiladas were very good but typical of what can be found in most good Mexican places so they weren't a standout.No mixed drinks is a letdown. I really enjoy margaritas at dinner with Mexican food, so I can't say this will be a common choice in our future. Maybe an occasional lunch.We have been trying to make it to this place for years, but the short hours & closures made it hard to catch them open. We finally made it today. I am glad we satisfied our curiosity & found the service to be outstanding. This restaurant isn't really for us (hours & lacking mixed drinks), but for those who are just looking for good food, I would certainly recommend giving them a try.

The tacos here are absolutely delicious. The combination of flavors is just right, and everything tastes so fresh. It is the perfect meal when I want something quick but packed with flavor.

It's been quite a while since we visited El Fogon, probably since 2021. Mostly because they got sporadic of when they were open. When we went today, we were seated immediately. Everyone that works there is so sweet and really looks after their customers. The food was delicious! I especially love their salsa and beans! You can tell it's all freshly made. Such bright & light flavors. It appears that they either expanded the restuarant or remodeled it. It seemed less cramped & brighter. This is authentic Tex-Mex or Mexican food. They had tripe soup & a couple of other authentic dishes that are unusual to see offered. The food came out piping hot and fast, even at the noon hour rush. Love this place and glad to see it again, even better than before.

Cracking up reading reviews from California complaining abt this place and quoting how they know real Mexican because they have had it in California. Hilarious. Guess they are experts not people from South Texas, New Mexico, or actual Mexico. I've had "Cali-"Mexican that Californians always claim as the real thing. It is good but different. If you want to get technical, you'd be hard pressed to find "authentic" Mexican food in America. Because we just would not eat it as often. Big spoiler. Same goes for Italian, Chinese, etc. With that said El Fogon is a great place. It does have authentic dishes you don't find everywhere. Such an menudo (sp?). As for me. I could care less if it's authentic as long as it's good food served by nice people. El Fogon hits both marks. Ask for their off-menu Pineapple dish. Far from traditional. But great!

The service here in a Tuesday late lunch was outstanding. We came to check the vegetarian options-Combo with enchilada espinacas which was ok and the vegetarian burrito was good. Very flavorful somewhat spicy salsa.

If you like authentic Mexican food, this place is for you. First off, they treat you like family here. Secondly, the food is cooked fresh to order and arrives at your table lickety split. Before you even order your entrees, chips and salsa are served, bottomless too. Mild or hot are the choices. The Super Burrito with shrimp is THEBOMB.com

Delicious food and great service, best Mexican in whole Tulsa metro area! Hours are a little tricky but it's worth it.
