Talk about Cheesy......but I knew that in advance, and I think it's kind of the point. Discoverlyand has outdoor performances of the musicals "Oklahoma" and "7 Brides for 7 Brothers". There is other stuff, like a barbecue dinner and Native American performers, but we got tickets for "Oklahoma" only.It was so fun! I had forgot about a lot of the plot (Ado Annie is my girl!). The music was wonderful of course, and there are real horses, loud guns! The lead actors were terrific, the rest of the cast filled in nicely, but wasn't spectacular. My favorite part was the very end when the cast has the audience join in singing "Oklahoma" while horses prance the stage with the Oklahoman and American flags and guns shoot at the end. "We know we belong to the land...."The setting is what makes this show amazing. The stars up above, the cicadas chirping in the trees.....Bring bug spray, and be prepared for a late night if you have little ones, the show didn't end until after 11, and we still had a 2 hour drive back to OKC.

Discoveryland is a fantastic show and definitely a state treasure. But recently, I went ahead and did the dinner. Is there no way they could make the food better! It was horrible. And it wasn't even hot. There's got to be an economical way to make the meal much better tasting and served in a charming manner. We waited in a long, long line and people just plopped sandwiches on the plate. It looked like they took them from ice chests. Ughhh... so if you go to Discoveryland, do dinner somewhere else and show up for the spectacular show.
