Stayed the night here on our way east. Was a little concerned since it wasn't even 4 stars. The rate was decent but it was a weekday. The lobby is nice when you enter. There is also plenty of parking and there is a parking garage if needed. The staff was friendly and check in was quick. We got to the room and was pleasantly surprised. The room is decent size and is nicely done. The room is reminiscent of a Vegas style room. There are also plenty of outlets for charging bedside. Didn't really come for casino but it is also nice. A little small but modern with modern slots. The only knock is lack of restaurants. They only really have one restaurant and it's closed on Wednesday. Not sure why it's not open 7 days a week in a casino. They also have a grab and go but the kitchen wasn't open when we went down around 7. Went to the diner across the street. As far as a hotel I'd stay here again for sure.

I ate here while in town for work. There are limited options in Hawthorne. In my opinion, you shouldn't make this one of yours. The atmosphere was very 70s casino, complete with the ashtray aroma. That said, I was pretty hungry and the staff in my hotel recommended this place. The experience starts with a "Please wait to be seated" sign, that after waiting for close to 10 minutes, somebody came over and said to just seat yourself wherever... and so it begins.I ordered the ground steak, elsewhere known as a bun-less burger, or perhaps a Salisburysteak. Portion size was decent, but my requested medium doneness was a hard, scorched, very well done puck. I might have complained, but the staff didn't return until I was obviously done with my meal. On the plus side, the sautéed onion and mushroom topper wasn't bad. The accompanying side salad was fine, albeit basic. It met expectations for the locale and price point.Baked potato was fine, although it was about the size of a standard plastic Easter egg. Tasty, bit don't think you are getting full on that.Vegetable medley was a carrot and pea mix, which would be fine except the dried out frozen peas. The server was friendly enough, even if not particularly attentive.I'd really like to have good things to say, but it is what it is. Luckily I did try some other places in town.

On our 25th wedding anniversary and just hitting the road to where ever we go. This was our second stop on this trip. I was a little reluctant because of the reviews. But I was also game. lol never been to a casino. First, yes the smell to cover up the cigarette smell is overpowering when you walk in, but you'll get use to it. Second someone mentioned the small pillows, yes they are small. Big enough for your head and one of mine was lumpy. But I slept fine. The only complaint I had and have is the food situation. There is the grab and go didn't feel like getting food there and the sit down restaurant has hours that are lunch and dinner Thursday through Sunday. Enjoyed winning a little money!!

Five stars for the Cherokee Casino that has a FREE parking area for RV's! It's located at the side of their lot and while it is a little primitive as far as not being paved, it has ALL the services you need in an RV - a free level one charger, potable water, free wifi and a sanitary dump. I mean, what else could you possibly require?I did walk the casino floor and considered playing but that's just not my thing. I tried, but did not feel the need to put money into a slot machine. I also did not feel comfortable with the amount of cigarette smoke going on here. Cough cough. There is an open parking lot and a nice parking deck. I noticed a security patrol in a pickup truck making the rounds and that helped me feel comfortable. The next time I'm passing through on I-40, I'm stopping here![Review 685 of 2024 - 158 in Oklahoma - 21716 overall]

The pleasant aroma of the Grab & Go somehow overpowers the almost overwhelming stench of desperation and cigarette smoke. If there's one thing I like about a casino it's the food and the people at Cherokee make sure they serve some of the best. Comped with $40 credit I spent half of it on breakfast, hungover and starving, after a long night of Bloody Mary's and losing big. I needed carbs and a lot of 'em. After perusing the menu for a few minutes (there were more options than I expected) I settled on the Meat Lover's Skillet and an order of biscuits and gravy. The skillet was almost more than I could handle. A crispy hash brown base topped with what had to be six scrambled eggs, juicy ham, crunchy bacon, and crumbled sausage; the mountain of chow was smothered in creamy peppered gravy and melty cheddar cheese. THIS is what breakfast is all about. Paired with the crispy on the outside and soft in the middle, perfectly toasted biscuits and gravy, I have never ate better at a casino than I have at Cherokee. It took everything in me to finish this breakfast for three and when I did I unbuttoned my pants, let out a sigh of relief, and somehow wanted more. The Grab & Go was ran and operated by noticeably pleasant women who took pride in their jobs and reminded me of my mother and grandmothers. The "sweeties" and "honeys" didn't seem forced and the lady behind the counter seemed genuinely invested in providing a memorable dining experience, which she did. Despite the surrounding atmosphere (you almost forget you're in the middle of a casino filled with bells and whistles), the dining area was spotless and comfortable. Again, not a fan of casinos at all, but I'm less resistant to go again knowing the Grab & Go will be there to help me through it.

Quick, efficient, friendly check in. Room was clean, well appointed, loved the vanity with swing makeup mirror, microwave, coffee maker, storage, and black out curtains. The lighting was along the perimeter of the room and could use an overhead light fixture in the middle of the room. The shower was walk in and no bathtub. The employees were so friendly, efficient and made the stay even more enjoyable. Thank you to Brad, Theresa (buffet), Rider (Bartender), and Carly (Bartender).

The first thing I noticed is that there is a strong fragrance in the lobby and casino area. It was off-putting to me, but I know some people have real problems with fragrances. In the guest room, the bed pillows are fairly small. Let me be clear: I'm not talking about throw pillows. I'm talking about the bed pillows. The HVAC was loud initially, but it quieted down after a few minutes. In the bathroom sink, I could not get the hot and cold water to mix. The water was hot or cold period. The toilet paper was cheap. These complaints may sound petty, but with the fees added, this room cost close to $200 for one night. The base price was $129. I expect more for that amount of money.

Stayed here over night just for the eats and swimming and having some family memories made. BUT... my only gripe is, the family with a slew of Little Caesars pizza which whom allowed their littles to eat in the jacuzzi portion of the pool.. it's separated from the main pool. The children continued to eat at the tables and still swam when their mouths could no longer close while engorging on pizza. Totally disgusting. If I knew we were going to marinate in pizza vomit, I would have passed. You know, if you're a swimmer those little tummies aren't going to love the water within a few minutes. Moms and dads... I know you earned your money and payed great to stay and vacay, but please keep the pizza out of the guest pool area. I can see this happening at the lake or river float. Maybe a Carnival Cruise.... Been there and seen that. Kept it classy.

This is a strict casino with barely anything to do there. It is the worst one we have tried out. We won't recommend this casino and hotel.
