Char Char

Excellent food, service could be better, one of the cleanest Mediterranean restaurant. Came in on a Monday night as a first timer. The restaurant wasn't too busy. Ordered at the counter for dine-in. Not sure if you pay after ordering or not, but I was able to get seated without paying. The male owner (I think) was at the counter this night. Not once did I see him smile when greeting customers. I started out with the beef and chicken combination platter. I can tell you immediately that Char Char has the most moist and soft piece of chicken and beef you'll find at a Mediterranean restaurant. The meats were savory to the taste, and melted in your mouth with each bite. The portion size was rather small and the price was a little steep compared to other Mediterranean restaurants, $25. For someone with a short stature like myself, I could really eat. I finished the beef and chicken combination platter in less than 15 minutes. The owner brought me a bill to my table and told me "You must be hungry." I replied, "Yes" and told him to "hold on" on the bill. I walked to the next table to ask a couple dining in that night whether they like their char broiled quarter chicken which they did. I went up to the counter and ordered the quarter dark chicken. The owner then said "But you have to pay first buddy." With everything that has transpired, I felt like he was afraid I wasn't going to pay. Again, this was what I "FELT" at the time which could just be me. I was not impressed by the char broiled chicken. The chicken was done well because the meats fall off the bones with each bite. It just lacked flavor. The BBQ sauce helped but it wasn't enough. The combination platter was simply superior in every aspect. Finished dining around 7:50 PM and the doors were locked. I don't really understand why not just close at 7:30 PM, instead of 8 PM. I would not be happy if I were to show up at 7:45 PM and couldn't get in. Putting all personal biases aside, I gave Char Char a 4/5 stars. A case could be made for 3.5 stars. The beef and combination platter was delicious. The price on the combination platters could be cheaper. The customer service could definitely be better.

While this restaurant may not seem fancy or modern, the food and service left an indelible mark on me and my friends. The owners who were very hospitable to us ran their restaurant as if it was their beloved home. The waiter constantly checked up on us, even accommodating us when the restaurant was near closing. My friend and I ordered a beef and gyro combination platter with two sides of potato salad and tabouli to share-a perfect amount of food. My other two friends ordered a chicken dish as well. Everything was well-seasoned with good portions. Being able to try each dish, I found that my favorite was the beef. The beef holds a lot of depth, which (I'm guessing) might be attributed to spices mixed into ground beef, molded on the kebab stick, and then chargrilled. I can see how it might not suit many people's palates. But you really must try it!!

Excellent, simple, delicious food with great service! I had the chicken kabobs with bruschetta and my wife had the same with tabouli. Both came with rice and pita and they were delicious. Chicken is lightly marinated and cooked perfectly! Perhaps the best and freshest bruschetta in town!

This is a family owned and run business with delicious food, a calm and relaxing atmosphere, and amazing service. Every single thing I had was delicious and I will definitely be back!

I wanted to post a review because this is such an amazing place. Jimmy , the man behind the counter is one of the kindest business owners. I know there was recently a review that was downgraded to a one star because the kitchen was closed six minutes before official closing. Instead of just being understanding and moving onto the next restaurant, the customer chose to bash the owner on Yelp because the customer chose to walk into a restaurant minutes before close to order food that is cooked to order. Please go in and try for yourself, you will not be disappointed, and remember to try to be courteous to restaurant staff and don't walk in merely minutes before close.

OMG! This was our first tine here and it was AMAZING! We had the chicken kabob platter and I can't wait to cone back and try something else! Elijah was so helpful and friendly! Come see them!

I stopped by for lunch today for the first time. Really enjoyed their bean soup and bruschetta (maybe an homage to ezme?) - both were very fresh and flavorful. The family that owns the restaurant is very friendly, kind and man, the restaurant was meticulously clean! Lovely place and will be back for a nice, healthy, nicely priced lunch soon. Delicious!

EVERYTHING is GREAT, ALWAYS! Sweet Family, Fresh, homemade , large portions, healthy, great service & friendly, comfortable, and relaxing atmosphere.

Great, fresh food, but prices are a bit nuts. Nearly 40 bucks for a combo platter, I don't see how that's even remotely reasonable. But delicious nonetheless

Ate there last night and what a wonderful experience it was. Had the chicken kabob and the wife had the chicken and they were both exceptional. The owner came out and gave us some pinto bean soup to sample and it was delicious as well. Looking forward to returning to try some other menu items!
