I stopped in for lunch today at Carl's Coney Island on Southwest boulevard. I ordered 3 of their delicious coney's and absolutely loved them! They have a full menu of coney's, frito pie, tamales, 3 way chili, chips, soda pop, and desserts. The staff is fantastic! They are all very friendly and love to serve delicious food. There is plenty of seating and the restaurant is nicely decorated. There is also plenty of parking out front. You get quick service at Carl's, so you definitely have time to squeeze in lunch at this outstanding restaurant.

I know the place has changed ownership in the past year or so and I tried to give them grace as they were going to stick with the original recipes, etc. I used to tell people this was the best Coney Island in the area. I went shortly after the changeover and it was okay. Not horrible but there was a subtle quality difference. I went today and it was not a good experience. The wieners were burnt and very chewy. No plump juicy hot dog but a sad withered thing. My mom's were not that way. Maybe it was on off day or an oversight but don't serve customers burnt food.

Since changing ownership, the food quality has changed. The dogs are smaller, but the chili flavor has taken a nose dive. I won't be back, & that's a shame because it's so close.

Since 1971,There has been a Carl's Coney in Crystal City. I remember going as a child with my family to eat the best Coney's West of the River. I had seen that they had reopened and decided to stop in and eat a few. I have been back twice and enjoyed them both times. Stop in for a Taste of History Stay for the Taste of a Lifetime

Very bad. The chilli tasted like hormel or wolf brand chilli. If you like I Lander or downtown coney island, avoid this place.
