Captain John's - Eufaula

Their Étouffée is better than what I ate in New Orleans. In Louisiana, I ate at the restaurant "Monty's on the Square," which is across the street from the famous beignet place "Café du Monde." The Étouffée made by Monty's was very, VERY fishy, like it was made from old, spoiling crawdads, and the portion was nothing like Captain John's portion size. It was barely enough to be called an appetizer, and much more expensive. Also, they didn't provide any cornbread or rice. They didn't even have cornbread. I was appalled, lol!Captain John's has the BEST Étouffée. It's fresh, and there is no fishy flavor to the crayfish in it. It comes in a very nice portion with the option to order huge slices of sweet cornbread that have peppers and spice as well, and there is plenty of rice for the sauce. I'm always full when I eat theirs.It's spicy (and I'm not huge on spicy), but it's so utterly delicious that it's almost always what I order.Also, the pork chops are huge, and they (as well as the steaks) are cooked to PERFECTION every single time.If I had one hundredth the skill of the chef and cooks there, I'd already be in my own personal heaven, lol.The servers are also always incredible, and the place is so good that it's very, very popular.Captain John's got literally everything right, from the ambiance to the food to the staff.

Always a great meal, fresh seafood. The 2 girls that work the bar are so good & friendly! Nice wait staff!

Captain Johns was conveniently located across from our condo on a recent trip to Lake Eufaula, so we had to check it out. It is a large restaurant with a great atmosphere, a favorite among locals and visitors alike. There is some outdoor seating over the lake, but there are great views inside as well. Every staff member was super friendly from the hostess to the manager. The food was seasoned with a Cajun flair. We enjoyed our dinners. I had the blackened catfish, and my husband and daughter split the seafood platter, which had fried catfish, a crab cake, etouffee, and fried shrimp. This platter was plenty for two people to share. I should also mention the complimentary rolls that are served prior to the meal. We ate more than our fair share!

Didn't expect to have one of my better meals in Eufaula but DANG, this place is GOOD!! We were a group of 7 so rather then a 40 min wait we ate at the bar & Journey took great care of us.. delish spicy Bloody Mary followed by the fish bisque w/spicy sweet cornbread. Ridiculously good. Everyone thought they ordered be best meal so there's something for everyone.

Great food and atmosphere. We utilized one of the outdoor igloo type structures and with the heaters we were very comfortable. Service was top notch. Will be back.

What a find! We started with the boudin balls and they were delicious served with remolaude sauce. I had the crawfish etouffee with sweet jalapeño cornbread. It was fabulous! Hubs had shrimp and he loved it. We can't wait to visit again!

Food was way better than excepted. Getting the crab boil i was concerned not a lot of present spice, but it was delicious! service was good, was busy the whole time but still paid attention.

No wait and service was excellent with a comfy atmosphere. The food was amazing with large portions. We will be back!

We came from out of town and were looking for a good dinner spot! We were drawn by good reviews and were very happy with the choice! We chose to sit outside and the ambiance was perfect. The staff were kind and welcoming. I can recommend the hush puppies, Cajun jambalaya pasta, and blackberry Moscow mule. The bread for the table was also delicious!

The wait was longer then it took to get food and drinks.The ambiance was great. Very clean. We ordered catfish bites, Cajun jambalaya, shrimp poboy. The food was great. The bartending was not good. We got food before we got 2 beers.Our server was amazing. She checked in on our and was sorry why our bartender drinks took so long. We will go again when the bartender is a different person.
