Cindy D. "If you haven't been to the Broken Arrow Community Playhouse, you need to make this a priority. It could be family fun, date night, or ladies' night out. It's a bit quaint (was an old church), so you don't have to dress up. But the entertainment is excellent.I went to see Tulsa! A Radio Christmas Spectacular. It was very funny and highly entertaining. The acting was very good, especially for community theater. The set design was simple, but set the mood appropriately. And the script was hilarious. My only problem was that I sat in the front row on the far side, so I had to turn my neck to see the left part of the stage. In addition, the keyboard was on my side and I couldn't always hear the actors. It wasn't enough to ruin my show, but I will look for a more center seat next time. Afterwards, they served hot cocoa and gave out candy canes. There was time to interact with the actors if you chose to. My husband and I enjoyed our time here and will be looking forward to another show in the near future."

Erica W. "My daughter attends the Tulsa Ballet Center for Dance education. This is her seventh year there and I am very happy with her progress. Currently she is in the 2nd division of Pre-professional. I am so proud of her!ok, enough bragging. I think what sets this school apart from the rest is they are very traditional and stick to rules and expectations. They also pay attention and encourage a healthy lifestyle within learning the craft. They recently added TBCD II, which is a ballet company for the professional dancers to start their career and have a better chance for them to be able to join a company in their desired location. What a great tool for dancers. Everyone that works for this non-profit organization is very kind. They also hold auditions every year for the Nutcracker and other performances for the younger dancers to be involved in the performance arts held on the big stage at the Tulsa Performing Arts center. All classes hold an end of year performance at the end of May each year."

Kristi S. "I have been attending the arts festival since I was a kid and it's something my family looks forward to every year. There's A lot of really great art ranging from painting to photography to pottery, jewelry and then some. The artist have to apply for a contract and if they are excepted then you will see them at the show for the next three years so if you find an artisan that you really like and one year they are no longer at the show then they didn't make the cut for that rotation. Much of the art is out of the price range for ordinary people but you can find prince of that art very affordably if you find something that you love. There are a lot of food booze and some have some very unique items. They're usually pretty costly so that can't be expensive if you have a larger family to feed. The great thing is you can pack your own lunch and drinks if that's what you choose to do and save some money that way. You are also welcome to bring your dogs from what I can tell. Although admission to the festival is free I wish the parking wasn't so expensive!"

Tonight the Signature Symphony at TCC played an all-Beethoven program In VanTrease Hall, with Beethoven's 9th Symphony, his crowning achievement, after the intermission. A choir of 200 voices was heard during that performance. Spectacular. This is a beautiful venue. Great sight lines, comfortable seats and very good sound. The Signature Symphony is comprised of Tulsans unlike symphonies in other cities who employ professional musicians from out of their direct area. It's wonderful to attend Signature Symphony performances and support our local musicians."

Crystal C. ""Book of Mormon" was a disappointment. Tulsa Project Theatre's "I Am My Own Wife" was an amazing one man show. The actor was able to play a variety of characters very believable. In the blink of an eye, he was able to change his mannerisms, voice, gait to fit the various characters. The story was so incredibly interesting. At moments funny, sad, or frightening."

Susan S. "Yesterday saw The Sweet Delilah Swim Club. Denise Hughes, Christine Lanning, Kathy Hayes, Tawny Hacker and Allyson rose were each excellent in their roles. The dialog was clever and well delivered. So real, resulted in tears in several scenes. I wanted to know more about the set designer/builder. Shawn Hancock's bio was so short so I Googled him to see more about his art because I was so impressed with the JBT sets he creates. The Mousetrap set was the best ever and this for the Swim Club was entirely different yet worked perfectly. Hope JBT can keep the professional team effort going. From the Play's selection to the ending bows the team didn't miss a beat. Takes dedication from all involved. Hope more people become season ticket holders. I still hear from lots of people that they don't know you moved. Maybe a sign on the corner of 36th Street would remind people to return to live theatre with Jewel Box and where you are located. Still a few more days thru July 14, 2024, to see the Swim Club."

I went to see their production of The Birds, and it was such a great performance. I love the size of the theatre as well. The intimacy is truly captivating. They have shows fairly frequently, so I know it won't be too long before I'll be back. They have a decently priced bar along with their other concessions. Also if you have an Allied Arts City Card, you can get tickets for buy one get one free!"

Nightingale Theater

Joy S. "The Nightingale Theater is a Tulsa treasure. Snuggled in an industrial block, one has to know what they're looking for OR be willing to stumble into the unknown. They cater eclectic and queer (in its 'unconventional' meaning) in addition to comedic and quirky, providing entertainment that can be thought- and emotion-provoking as much as, or sometimes more so, than the fare you may find at a conventional, city-claimed performing arts center. The setting is intimate and raw. They do not scare aware easily from controversial performances, and that makes them precious. Some stories just need a safe venue in which to be shared, and they do every one differently with their own bootstrapping, unique style. Everything from a monologue performance of one person's experience with religion to burlesque shows. Others include Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art School drawing sessions; musical theater; political dramas; costume parties; crowd-participation comedies; abstract, experimental performance art; underground musical performances; and not to mention they throw an annual Baconfest fundraiser to support their independent local arts AND a Ms. Center of the Universe Pageant that is an in-your-face, snarky, flip of the finger to patriarchal dictation of womanhood."

"We try to make it to the holiday performances each year, and (in our defense) we USUALLY succeed. The cast of each show I've seen there (and I've seen MANY) always seems eager to please the audience, and to laugh right along with it as needed. My favorite show at The Pollard lo the past three decades? Hmmmmm -- that would have to be either one particular version of "A Territorial Christmas," else -- still laughing my butt off over this one -- "Reefer Madness" a few years back.Unfortunately, our favorite restaurant in Guthrie ("Granny Had One") is long gone, thus leaving us with very few palatable options in the area. (Trust me when I say that Guthrie is NOT known for its wide array of foodie options.)Is that the Pollard's fault? Oh, of course not! But me? I'm just kvetching this morning because a) I haven't had my daily ration of coffee yet, and b) I'm a miserable, whining bitch."

They do an outstanding job of line/script memorization and performance! Great for the whole family, but since each play is different, double check before taking children, as some plays are not age appropriate for younger viewers. My son saw his first live show here when he was 3 years old. He loved it so much, he cried when it was over, because he wanted to see more!"

The staff's friendliness and patience with the young students set the tone for a positive learning environment, and create loyal customers for years, even generations! What sets The Dance Pointe apart is its role as a feeder for South Tulsa Children's Ballet, providing all children with the opportunity to shine on stage. Ms. Farrey, the dedicated owner, goes above and beyond to ensure every student and their family members feel loved, welcomed, and valued. Her commitment to truly knowing students and families creates a sense of community that is truly heartwarming. My daughter's experience here has been transformative. Not only is she gaining valuable dance and tumbling skills, but the confidence to perform on stage is blossoming. The improvement in both confidence and skills is evident, especially compared to our previous studio experience. The positive atmosphere and personalized attention make The Dance Pointe a standout choice for any young dancer in Tulsa. She feels loved by the older dancers and they are so sweet with my little. Grateful to be part of such a supportive dance family!"

The children's theater has five productions each season with local talent of all ages. Their Christmas play is coming up next weekend and they're doing the Velveteen Rabbit and Pollyanna next year! The Drunkard & The Olio is the historic and longest-running play in the U.S. It started in 1953 and has never stopped. Performances are on Saturdays at 7:30pm. It's an interactive play with lots of audience engagement. The building itself is and feels historic. It's easy to notice on riverside due to its white and tall facade. I reached out to them about doing a private event and Lauren, their operations manager was extremely helpful. She graciously scheduled a time to give me a tour of the space and shared all sorts of great history facts about the space. I believe they'll be launching an campaign to raise funds for renovations, which is exciting! A group of very dedicated volunteers makes all the magic happen. I'm excited about what's to come for this organization!"

The parking didn't seem bad to me, and if you get there late you'll probably have to walk a bit but you'll find a spotThere are a bunch of restaurants and bars around so it's easy to get there early or hang out after to hop around for eats and drinks. The theatre sells snacks and drinks, and has a cute lobby for us to be in but by cute I mean tinyI think the brick around the interior is really pretty with the other stone accents around the interior wallsThe seats are comfy but space can get cramped if two big people sit next to each other; this could create an unenjoyable experience. I had to get up and move because of this, but the show wasn't full and it allowed for a spontaneous seat swap"

Raphael T. "I have my 2 year old daughter enrolled in ballet here. The facility is nice and clean. Her classes are once a week for about 45 min. The parents aren't allowed to be in the room with them while they rehearse because they want the performance to be a surprise in the end. There is a screen that flips from room to room so that parents can see their child, but there is not a lot of seating out in the lobby. If you have short errands to run or want to gather your thoughts, this is a perfect time to do so, other wise you're just sitting and waiting. After the class the teacher comes out and gives a brief review of how your child did that day. They are very polite and courteous."

Julie S. "We love Lyric so much, and although there are two places to catch Lyric in OKC, this review is for Lyric at the Plaza, my favorite and by far the most intimate venue to see a show of this caliber. I think the thing I love most about Lyric is that we have Lyric moving in and anchoring Plaza to thank for the Plaza District we know and love today. Beyond that, it is such an important part of the fabric of our community and city. Finally, for many people, it one of their first experiences with live theatrical performance, or any kind of cultural experience. We brought our four year old here for the first time a few weeks ago to see The Cat in the Hat. She loved it, we loved it, and it was just so fun to share that experience with her. The theatre, though historic and charming on the outside, is modern on the inside, with an indoor box office, a bar, nice restrooms. Once inside the actual theatre, you'll find comfortable seats, good lighting, a nice black box stage, and an overall great setup. When you leave, you'll find yourself energized, and deposited just steps from some of the best food, drinks and desserts in the city, and definitely the best people watching. If you haven't been yet, their 2020 season has just been announced and it is going to be a great group of shows."
