Buck's BBQ and Steakhouse

Some if the best BBQ I have long to have! Our family told us about this place and that it was the best around. That was no lie. My small plate of ribs was a feast in itself with the two sides. Our cousins ordered the rib dinner plate to split but the amount could have been split between the 4 of us. We had a great time and the credit goes to our server Johnnie, she was great. Friendly and out going and always smiling. It was a pleasure to chat with her.

Great selection of pork and brisket BBQ. Home made potato salad delicious. Pulled pork comes with sausage and bacon.

Our group of 16 from Independence all raved about the food & mango margaritas! The smoked chicken was incredibly moist & delicately smokey. The rub on the steaks was to die for & the steak was so tender & flavorful! Our waitress was beyond fabulous! We are already planning our return trip. No kidding, one of best meals I've had in any restaurant anywhere, city or country.

I've heard about Bucks for 17 years. Now I'm mad that I didn't try it years ago. It's one of the best steaks I've had in NE Oklahoma/SE Kansas. The place is not fancy, which is a plus for me. I liked its rustic charm. The prices were decent. Appetizer, Soda, 18oz Ribeye Steak, Side, Salad for less than 60!!The real surprise was the baked beans. I usually just tolerate baked beans. Most "Good" ones are just decent. So, I typically would not order them unless someone strongly recommends them. After hearing three strong recommendations for them, I caved and tried them. I can say theirs make me believe in really good baked beans again. The chickadee fries were great and have chicken and a awesome aioli sauce. The salad was simple but good. They make their ranch dressing which is always a plus. The steak was tender, cooked as ordered, and had great flavor. Service was great as well. All around I highly recommend it. For a regional frame of reference. Clicks in Pawnee is my typical go-to and measuring stick for steakhouses. This place is right up there and possibly a little better. It's also closer to my house. It might be a bit more expensive though. Regardless, for your dining dollar, both beat any of the overpriced fancier steakhouses in Tulsa.

Stopped on Saturday noon with 9 people and we were seated right away and food and service were excellent. The only reason for only 4 stars is that there restrooms are not handicapped accessible.

Buck's BBQ is in Sedan Kansas, halfway between Wichita and Tulsa on highway 99. We stopped off there to have some of their tasty BBQ. Although they were out of ribs due to the coronavirus, we were able to have great chopped beef sandwiches topped with hot link sausage, a side of fried okra and some delicious pecan cobbler. If you're hungry they have a great selection of steaks. We've been there twice and both times of food and service have been excellent. And I guess I should say there were plenty of sanitizer wipes and the staff were wearing masks.

First the good: The brisket and chicken were both very good. The macaroni and cheese was great. I would say it's the best mac and cheese I've had from a bbq joint in years. And I noticed another reviewer mentioned twice about how strange it was that a bbq restaurant didn't have sweet tea. Well, they must've seen her review and remedied that because I had very good sweet tea. And my wife thoroughly enjoyed her mushroom and swiss cheeseburger. We ate there around 2:30 in the afternoon and it was so filling that she didn't get hungry again for the rest of the day. And our server did a great job. The bad: I only had two complaints and would much rather leave 3.5 stars instead of 3, but that's not an option. The first complaint was the appetizer. The cheese curds were burnt. My wife said they were the worst she's ever had and not worth the amount we paid for them. The second complaint was the barbecue sauce on the table. I didn't try to spicy sauce so it may have been perfectly fine, but I am suspicious that the regular sauce on my table may have been spoiled because it tasted like beer smells. That probably wouldn't bother people who drink, but I don't, and so it was the first time I've ever had to try and scrape off the sauce I've already put on my meat. Overall, I would probably return again if I just happened to be in Sedan again at the time I was hungry, but I wouldn't make a special trip from Coffeyville just to eat there. (And that says a lot because I am well known among my friends for my willingness to drive 2-3 hours each way just to eat somewhere.)

The food was marvelous, thick juicy hamburgers with all types of toppings, usually cost $10.99-12.99 but they have daily specials. Yesterday, Wednesday, was hamburger and fries special for 7.99.Fries were homemade. They also had barbecue sandwiches, ribs and all types and sizes of steaks. They had quite a few other entrees also. The service was good, could have used more employees but our waitress was fantastic at keeping up and refilling drinks, it was interesting interior made me think of Bass pro, Cabelas or Shields with animal heads and antlers. Looked like it was always busy!

Delicious pulled pork Thursday night's rib special is well worth the money. Plenty to take home. Delicious.
