Buck Atom is a comic cowboy character with a spacecraft on his hand. It must look very future at the time that was build. This space cowboy is a very attractive attraction at historic Route 66. I was wondering space cowboy travel to space. The comic store sell many collectible including Stella limited space cowgirl. There is a plan to add the space cowgirl on the other side of the comic store. The comic store is seems like old gas station modified. This location is good photo spot including the Route 66 sign. The visit only takes 15 minutes. However, I enjoy this kind off road specialty store.

If I made a list of the Top Hundred Reasons Why I Love to Visit Tulsa, this place would be pretty close to the top of the list. I make a point to stop here every time I visit the city. Of course I'm going to tell you why. I'm a Yelp Elite, that's how we do. LOL!First of all the shop is right on Historic Route 66, and I love how Oklahoma celebrates The Mother Road. Buck Atom's is located in an actual Route 66 gas station dating from the 1950s. The building was originally a Pemco Gas Station.Buck's calls itself a Cosmic Curio shop which might seem like a high falutin' name for a Souvenir Stand. But the name is totally appropriate because this is no ordinary souvenir stand. While they have plenty of souvenir items you would expect to find, like stickers, keychains and coffee mugs, they also boast a healthy selection of one of a kind Steam Punk and Sci-Fi items created by local artists.Take for example, the fantastic selection of Rayguns and Robots for sale. The Rayguns are crafted so meticulously that you almost can't believe they aren't operational. As fantastic as the Rayguns are, the Robots are even more appealing to my eye. Every time I visit Buck Atom's I spend most of my time appreciating the Robots. There are so many different kinds. Check out the photos attached to my review. There are a few very disirable commercially manufactured Robots. But the most interesting Robots here are those built from recycled materials. Some are cobbled together from discarded electronics, some from random kitchen utensils and old timey metal spice containers. All of them make me smile. Next visit I'm going to buy one of those fantastic Robots. I doubt that it would ever pass the TSA screening at the airport, so I'll probably have to mail it to myself. But whatever, Ima gettin' me one. One of the highlights of my most recent visit was discovering the OKIES trinket machine. For $5 a turn, this machine dispenses a little plastic figurine of one of five different famous Okies (Will Rogers, Buck Atom, Bass Reeves, The Golden Driller, Wiley Post). Soon as I saw that trinket machine I couldn't get out my money fast enough. I traded a five spot for a token from the counter person and slipped it into the slot. I turned the handle slowly and deliberatively. The capsule dropped down the chute with a very satisfying clunk. I was stoked that I got a Bass Reeves! Hell yeah! If I would've been able to choose my OKIE, that's the one I would've picked. As a souvenir stand, you will be hard pressed to find a better one than Buck Atom's Cosmic Curios. If you're looking for something to remember Tulsa or Oklahoma's section of Route 66 by, they've got a million choices here. That impressive selection of souvenirs, the fantastic Ray Guns and the mind blowing menagerie of Robots is why Buck Atom's gets 5 stars from me. Mikey C says: I love this place!

I'm so happy that we have this roadside attraction on route 66. I know that when I'm on road trips I like to stop and look at roadside attractions. Sometimes I even go out of my way to see them. My husband didn't know these were here, and he was really surprised to see them.

Decided to drive on Route 66 and see this statue. It's the brainchild of Mary Beth Babcock who wanted a Muffler Man statue for her curios and souvenir shop. Muffler Men were used to advertise businesses in the early 1960s. This 21 foot statue is cool to look at with a silver spaceship in his hand and a cowboy hat on top of his visor. There is street parking but some of it is in a residential area. The Buck Atom's Cosmic Curios store was closed by the time we visited which was disappointing as it had quaint and interesting items. We were also told that Mary Beth, who runs it, takes photos for tourists who need a group shot. But a friendly local took our photo so that was nice. We didn't realize that there is also a Buck's Cosmic Crash Pad behind it where there is artwork for sale. It is also reservable through airbnb for you to stay in. That's pretty cool.

This cute little souvenir shop has become a Route 66 icon. They carry a very limited selection of Mother Road merch (at higher-than-usual tourist prices), but every traveler needs to make a stop. The star attraction is outside: the giant Buck Atom muffler man! Brightly painted, it's one of the best photo ops along the road, and among my favorites in Oklahoma. Who wouldn't love a 12 foot tall spaceman wearing a cowboy hat? Yee haw!

Great roadside attraction in an odd location, at least as far as the neighborhood goes. But, it is on old Route 66 so you can't get much more classic than that. If you are going to stop in, don't just stop and take a picture. Get your butt inside the store and start a conversation with the woman behind the counter. You are sure to get a few good stories and you will, not may, learn something new about Buck Atom and the process of bringing him to "life". Great Instagram stop but better slice of Americana stop. Stop on by, take a few selfies and spend sometime relaxing and learning inside the store. You might even find a souvenir that you just can't live without. Enjoy!
