We finally visited this midtown icon we've been hearing about since we moved to Tulsa. Now we know why Tulsa natives rave about it. It had a busy and happy atmosphere. We could tell there were a lot of repeat customers. The diners were enjoying their food and the servers seemed happy to be there. They seemed to enjoy talking to their regulars. I got chicken fried chicken and Dan got chicken fried steak. Both were good, but mine was better. That might be because I always prefer chicken fried chicken. The way the Brookside diner prepares chicken fried chicken is outstanding. I got a large piece of chicken that filled my plate. It was also thick. Some diners pound thin pieces of chicken to the point it's so thin that it is overdone in the time it takes to get the breading crisp. Not Brookside. They produce a perfect chicken fried chicken, nice and crispy on the outside and moist and tender on the inside. I noticed a chalk board listing the specials. The day we were there, it was meatloaf. I also noticed some tempting deserts which I plan to get when I don't eat such a large meal. I enjoyed my experience at the Brookside Diner. Looking forward to our next visit.

Been wanting to try this place for a while. Decided to go for lunch. Spouse had endured a minor surgery this morning so had had nothing to eat or drink since midnight so she was really hungry. This turned out to be a good choice. Huge portions. I got chicken fried steak and spouse got chicken fried chicken both with mashed potatoes and green beans. Both were quite good and portions so big we got to go boxes. Vickie took very good care of us. Anxious to try them for breakfast soon.

While driving down South Peoria (Brookside) we noticed Brookside Diner. It was close to dinner time and thought we would give it a try. I'm glad we did. There is plenty of parking and plenty of seating. Our waitress was one of the best we've ever had. I did not get her name, she was friendly with a sense of humor and seemed to really enjoy her job. We ordered onion rings as appetizer. Onion rings are fresh made not store bought. My wife ordered grilled pork chops with mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables. I ordered the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and brown beans. We both were surprised at the size of the pork chops and chicken fried steak. The dinner rolls are homemade. We both enjoyed our dinner. And had enough to take home for another meal. I'm sure we will be coming back again the next time we are in the neighborhood.

My wife and I both were thinking about a salad today for lunch. A salad with crispy chicken. And not a fast-food franchise salad. I wanted to go somewhere that had friendly service. Where the employees and the owner cares about the quality of the food that they set in front of their customers. The reviews for Brookside Diner had the rating. 4.5 stars on Google and Yelp. That is a strong indicator of a solid diner. Pictures of Brookside Diner's breakfasts and chicken fried steak seem to dominate as diners' favorites. The breakfast menu and the pictures of the breakfast plates will get me back in the door. Inside the restaurant is clean and comfortable. The service is prompt. The employees are very friendly. The owner made a tour of the dining area, checking on everyone. He also owns Yummy Subs and More in Broken Arrow, which offers excellent daily special sandwiches. Try it if you haven'tOur salad orders were the Chicken Avocado and the Brookside Chicken. Both with the breaded fried chicken breast. These are generous plates of food. A pile of salad vegetables and two large breasts sliced up in bite sized pieces. The chicken covers the plate of salad. A wide selection of your favorite house made dressings are available. Creamy Italian for my wife's Chicken Avocado and my favorite, Thousand Island for the Brookside Chicken. Check the pictures. Construction on Peoria has shifted to the east side of the street, making the access to Brookside Diner much easier than it has been for months. Enjoyable meals, great service.

This is a place that will make you feel like a regular. It is a friendly and welcoming diner and breakfast is served all day! The food is good and portions are hefty but order away and get a to-go box.

Located on Peoria, just past all the "popular" restaurants. This place could be easily overlooked. BUT service was excellent and our food was served piping hot in less than 10 minutes for a decent value. Brookside diner's "retro" atmosphere and friendly staff is worth the visit.

Such friendly staff!! Lots of regulars and lots of friendly neighborhood conversations!I ordered the. Rueben and it was a solid choice. I usually never order onion rings, but I happened to see some on a nearby table and couldn't resist. They were freshly homemade and had a nice flavor and crunch. I had 6 good sized rings. Hubby had the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and said it was definitely better than most of the ones he's had. We wouldn't hesitate to return here the next time we drive through town.

Hit this about 9 am on a Sunday. Immediate seating was available. Server and service was prompt. Their menu is fairly standard for diner fare - skillets stand out, but I went with a meat lovers omelet and a pancake for a small upcharge. My buddy had a Denver omelet. My omelet had bacon, sausage, and ham. Appeared to be a 3-4 egg omelet. Generous but not silly sized. I chose hashbrowns which were nice and crispy on the outside, how I like it. The pancake was outstanding - fluffy, but just right texture and size. Warm syrup accompanied it. Again, service was friendly and appropriate. I'll be back - I see why it's rated well.

After a friend recommended this place we tried it last night for my birthday. I had the daily special lasagna with a salad and garlic toast and my husband has fried catfish fillet. It was all delicious and generous with portions. Then they gave me a giant cinnamon roll with icing to take home because it was my birthday!
