If you're a member of the LGBTQIA+ (or an ally) community, you should check out the Apothecary 39 located at the 39th Street District (aka "the strip"). It's pretty chill in there and has a hipster/lounge atmosphere. It also has a patio and the bar is NON-SMOKING (but you can smoke on the patio). It does close earlier than the other bars of the strip.First impression:This place is old. No really, I've been told the building is more than 100 years old and was part of the original Route 66 "mother road". It has a lot of history and if you talk to the older local crowd, they will have plenty of entertaining stories. It's nearby various LGBTQIA+ clubs, restaurants, and a hotel. You can park in one spot and then do a bar crawl throughout the night. However, you should start your night here.Menu:I typically drink beer or the occasional shot of Jameson (it's an Irish thing). However, there is a special menu of cocktails you can order from. Keep in mind sometimes the liquor they use may be out of stock. This can apply to items off the special menu as well.Atmosphere:There are plenty of places to sit at the bar or throughout the establishment. Don't expect anything exciting playing on the TVs and the music in the bar is picked by the bartender that's working that night. There is a pool table, but it's not a professional version. The bathrooms are NOT updated and are what you would expect from a typical bar. Cleanliness would be compared to the other bars in the area.Customer Service:For the most part, the staff is friendly. You'll get service with a smile and they will do their best to get your drink order to you. Keep in mind they deal with a lot of intoxicated people and so if you're a little "too much", you're likely to be told to calm down. At peak times, you will wait in line but the cocktail will be worth it.Price:It's a little steep but is similar to the bars within the 39th Street district. You can find drinks cheaper elsewhere, but you'll need to go somewhere else in the city. You are paying for the location, the community, and the convenience of being near other locations.Overall:I like this place. I go there often. I feel comfortable and I have always had good service. It's quieter than the other bars. So if you want to have a conversation with someone, you can. The bartenders will get to know you if you frequent the place and if you have a regular order, they'll remember it. You should definitely stop by and stay a while.

Would not come here on my own volition. This bar is very boring and quite. Definitely for older individuals. We got kicked out during pride because apparently there's a one drink minimum and we didn't order within the first 2mins of being inside as we were waiting for our party to show up. Be for real. If you need $1 you need to have different conversations lmao.

Leo was incredible. I'm super happy that he is here and I'm also really super happy that Molly is still here. This is my favorite place to stop when I'm in OKC because it's so welcoming. Molly and Leo, thats a good combo. Can't Wait to come back

This is a small, non-smoking bar. Can you tell I'm excited? On the second Friday they have bingo, with the money going to a local charity. The "sisters" were dressed as nuns or saints and they were running the Bingo. It was so entertaining. First, I ordered a Paloma and it was almost all alcohol with a little itty-bitty bit of juice. In other words, the drinks are pitted strong. So I switched to a Dark and Stormy. Let's just say, don't come here without w designated driver or a Ride App on your phone. lol

This place is great from the very friendly staff to ask the comfortable seating. It's smoke free which is nice. I also like that the music is not so loud. You can talk to people without having to yell. Highly recommend.

Was We're suggested to come here for a fundraiser rather than Phoenix Rising across the street to help our community. It was negative the moment we walked in. You had two people at the front acting like they would take our ID's and as we tried to hand it to them they pushed it away and said we need to see the bartender. As we try and walk to the bar there is a man that came at us very rude and demanded our IDs... ohhhhkay so we handed it to him and he said they were only open for 30 more min. Which was fine because we just wanted one beer and to help support our community. Especially not being from OKC... As we got up to the bar, the same gentleman came up and said it was invite only and escorted us out. It was just hostile from the moment we walked through the door. This bar gives the Gay community a bad rep. Being from San Diego, CA the community at home is not treated like this out there. Maybe if the community would be more accepting and nice of its family there might be a better name for us in OKC. I get it, invite only but how ruuude they were was beyond me. We will not be supporting that bar again.

Love this place! Smoke-free, plenty of space for lounging and great service. There's also a pool table and back patio area. They have a Facebook page where special events, such as BINGO or a 39th Street night out, can be found. Always clean with good music.
