Amish Cheese House

I have always adored the Amish Cheese House! Best sandwiches and homemade ice cream! I love to get tons of snacks to take home. Staff are very kind. It's super cute and clean inside too. This is a must-stop in Chouteau. You'll find something delicious every time.

Good shop, excellent pastries. Oddly condescending young girl working here though. I heard her patronize a customer before me, then the older woman working next to her, then as we walked out she told me to be careful not to drop our pie...why would I drop it? Was pretty strange. But it *did* give us a great family joke for the rest of our lives. Pretty much any time we hand something to each other now we say, "Be careful. Don't drop the pie."

We've been visiting Amish Cheese House every 4-6 weeks to stock up on some family favorites. We've not sampled their cafe yet, but we did have some ice cream one time and highly recommend it - super creamy, and the purple cow flavor is so good and unusual!! As for the family favorites we have to stock up on, I am personally obsessed with pickles and pickle juice. I was loyal to Claussen Mini Dills but they haven't been carrying them anywhere in at least 6 mos but I found that the pickles at Amish Cheese Pantry taste very similar AND they sell their pickle juice in a pint for $0.99 or quart for $1.49! And they sell it refrigerated and frozen! I get usually 6 quarts, half frozen and half not. We also get their fresh sliced Colby longhorn cheese and we usually find a few new things each time. We typically check out and head next door to the bakery for fresh baked goods and frozen meals at Nettie Ann's which seems to be part of the Cheese House but kind of not.The place is always busy, I don't know that they ever have a "down time" but the staff is always friendly and helpful, never short or rude. Everyone we've seen enjoying lunch at the cafe seemed to enjoy it and we will make an effort to eat there soon and update this review!

There is so much to choose from here in the store. Amish products for days. We didn't have time to eat in the cafe, but we loved the shopping. We bought some amazing dutch chocolates, but were tempted by the fresh ice cream.Some of the staff are actual Amish- which added to the charm. Everyone was friendly and helpful.

Go meet Angie at the icecream counter, she is a delight and the icecream is phenomenal! This is a great place to stretch your legs and get roadtrip snacks!

Bakery has nice variety of homemade pies, breads, cakes, cobblers, casseroles priced right. Super clean restrooms. So many yummy things besides cheese! Spices, jellies, snacks, noodles, pasta, pickles, fudge, samples, kitchen items, gift items, etc. Clean country-style restaurant with fast, friendly help, sandwiches, wraps, salads, ice cream and reasonable prices.

What memories! I love coming to this store with family. We make a special trip and always get delicious goodies. This place is always clean, staff is always nice and helpful. You always find all kinds of seasonings, jellies, fillings, etc. Some true gems to find in here and some great gifts too!

I received quick service with a smile. The atmosphere was nice as well. The food d came out rather fast as well. I had a black bean salad which was yummy!

Excellent sammich! Even better soup! Service was quick. Place was quiet and not too busy at the time.

I am a big fan of this place. They make their own food, spices, ice cream and baked goods. We've been there three times now, and it's always delicious and served up with a smile.You gotta love the free samples and the HUGE variety of spices, toppings, ingredients and snacks they have on the shelves.Give yourself at least an hour for eating and the shopping you will want to do afterwards.
