Wooden Nickel Tavern

On Thursday is Taco Thursdays here!! Like homemade tacos these are fresh, hot and delicious. The lettuce, cheese are like from home. The meat patties are thick, flavorful. You can't eat just one. It's a bar so expect it to be loud. I didn't mind because I love the food here. And the restaurant/bar. The gentleman who brought out our order were kind and polite. We also order their zucchini. Definitely a RECOMMENDED place. to try their food. They have daily specials, call to get them.

Walked in to watch a playoff game. Sat down for.12 minutes. Could not get any service. Not a greeting. Not a menu. We did get to smell chicken. Wings and the smell.was amazing. However man cannot live on wing aroma alone...Wish these guys the best just documenting my experience as an out of towner. Seems very local and if we were local may have gotten a different experience.

I dropped in here for dinner two days ago with three friends. Service was slow, as one person was doing everything. I ordered a meatball sub with fries. Both were tasty and filling. Prices are reasonable. It is a bar, and it appeared most of the customers were there to drink, but it's not a bad place to eat, as long as you don't expect attentive service.

I feel like dive bars are the forgotten middle child of Yelp. But where else can you go for a cheap beer and solid wings after work on a Wednesday? No other than the Wooden Nickel. Their daily specials rock, and they have plenty of pool tables to choose from. Next time you feel like a casual spot think of this place!

Fantastic Meatball sub! The Nickel Dog is to die for and the BLT....fat with bacon! Excellent food, excellent football bar!

This is a dive bar with really good wings. The beer selection isn't anything remarkable nor is the alcohol selection. The rest of the food is good too. There isn't table service so you just order with the bar tender. The bathroom layout is wierd, but it's a cool dive bar.

A night out with friends....and some one suggested the Wooden Nickel. (Disclaimer). I may have gone here.....perhaps....back in the 90's...when it had not been...ummm. remodeled . I was expecting the worst....AND I WAS SO HAPPY TO BE WRONG! This place has changed! Don't get me wrong, it is still a dive bar, but a nice patio and a lot of interior renovation gives it a nice clean look. Lots of pictures and stories to remind people this place has been here since the LATE 1940's!! Well done Wooden Nickel!

Best wings in Tucson and staff is great. Wings are fat and sauce (mango habanero) is damn good. Came home and slapped my momma.

Would give it a zero. Immediately felt bullied and verbally attacked. Arrived with my service dog. Was denied service and kicked out. Spoke with bartender and owner. Both perfectly happy to violate our civil rights. We're well aware that it was a violatiolation. And welcomed a lawsuit, saying they can't wait. Owner parked coidencially was parked next to us. Followed us out and blocked us in as if to intimidate us. Worst experience we have had in a long time. Will never return. Very well aware of laws, and happy to break them. We were told by 3 people on way in dogs not allowed. But since we had a service dog with a 3 foot red leash with florescent 3" lettering "service dog" didn't matter refused service anyways.

Excellent Chicken wings. Some of the more meaty wings I've ever had. Multiple wings flavors and a bonus is the pool tables and out door patio area
