For a different adventure, some of my friends suggested we try the turquoise trail. I never had heard of it before, but one of my friends said it is a self guided tour that you can take downtown of all the historical landmarks to learn more about the history and the beginnings of Tucson. Starting at 196 Court St., one can follow the Turquoise trail for a 2 1/2 mile loop through downtown Tucson that features some of the original historical landmarks of the city as well as historical monuments. It is clearly marked by a painted turquoise stripe that runs along the sidewalk. It begins at the Presidio Museum, located at the northeast corner of the original Presidio San Agustin del Tucson which dates back to 1775. Also, there are self-guided walking brochures available at the Presidio Museum - 196 N. Court Ave.; Tucson Visitors Center - 115 N. Church Ave; Hotel Congress - 311 Congress St. or the Marriott Hotel - 151 E. Broadway Blvd. Even though I grew up in the city, I would walk it again and again as I feel I could never learn enough about the history and roots of this city.
